Agreed. Even should all sanctions be removed, many business will not touch russia with a bargepole. As much as russia proclaiming they will be able to sell their goods elsewhere, it won't make up for the loss by any stretch.

Email - not long ago it was reported that Biden gave Ukraine the authority to negotiate the lowering of the sanctions. Whether that has changed I don't know but the last thing I read was that at least for the US Ukraine could use the sanctions as part of the negotiation process.

Onlyone i wouldn't call the polish PM visiting and addressing the ukr government in person distancing themselves. But i agree the longer this goes on the more emphasis there will be on negotiating and the terms will definitely depend on how the russian advance is going.

Chippy, Zelensky has recent come out and said that returning things back to the 23rd would be a victory for Ukraine ie crimea still is russia hands and separatists holding onto several other areas. I Don't think they will go for the Crimea yet unless Russia refuse to negotiate. There has been a lot of subtle changes in the rhetoric on both sides which hopefully is a sign that progress might start to be made in the not too distance future towards a long term peace.

There is only so much help people can give Ukraine. It will eventually boil down to numbers and Russia simple has the ability to out more numbers in the field. The being said that does raise the risk back home for them. It does seem like Zelensky is starting to come to terms that the only way this will be settle is at the negotiating table, even Biden has recently said they want Russia to negotiate to end this.

Interesting I read an article the other day that unlike a lot of nations, Russia population is declining and has actually barely grown since the end of the Cold War and is predicted to start reducing by 300,000 lives a year. That speaks volumes about the way the country is run and this war will not have helped matters.

Plus they probably reached a point which Zelensky has been going on for sometime, withdrawal of all russian forces back to where they were prior to the 24th which Russia is more than likely refusing to do. Just-Another-Bot - I have to say the agree, does feel a bit of a co-incidence. Either Erogen trying to stop things as he feels it could cause an escalation or (and more likely) he is trying to wrangle concessions for turkey ie removal of sanctions from Sweden which in all fairness if your part of a defensive alliance all partners should be allowed to export weapons to at least each other. As for VP reactions as someone pointed out on sky news that actually them joining isn't a big increase as they have military clauses as they are both part of the EU already so its not a true enlargement of NATO in the conventional sense.
