Funny you should say that. My early plantings were frozen by the "beast from the East" Which did reach here.. But they all grew anyway...

We do suffer from eelworm and Blight, but my maincrop of onions and spuds are all out the ground by early July at the latest. Still got 50 red and strong white onions stored from last year.

Surplus Large spuds that might not store are chipped, cooked once or twice in oil and frozen in bags..Had 120 seed spuds in last year. All grew.

Also grow giant sweet tomatoes (up to 2ilbs..) in a tent. Stops them drowning... Great flavour and they freeze too.

St Austell are a bit of a nasty Monopoly company in Kernow ,with both managed and tenanted (solus agreement) pubs outside the County.

I do however get 10% off. Quite partial to Mena Du, in the Winter and Korev in the summer. The views in many of their pubs is unsurpassed..

Insulting to Kernow ...We are not just pasties.. Fantastic Fish , Shellfish , all year round. The Scallops and Mussels are sublime. Spiders and Red crab. Lobsters in season. Too many fish varieties to list.

All because of clean water , great visibility, great habitat.
