Kitty you seem to be equating volatility and buying and selling when in reality volume doesn't change *that* much. Yes it spikes on days when the share price rises or falls outside of the normal trading range but as a $670b asset there is always considerable volume, a minimum of about 50000 BTC traded daily.

In general though I agree that a fall in bitcoin short term is no bad thing for Argo long term, I assume even more miners will be forced to switch off their ASICS/ less rushing to join in the mining fraternity leaving a bigger market share of the total coins mined to companies like Argo. Am I right in saying the margins for Argo are better than most of the competitors like Riot, Mara etc???

How true is this and what exactly does it mean for Argo? Let's be honest Argo aren't going to suddenly announce June / July figures as 320 mined bitcoin each are they?

If this winding down in China is actually likely to translate into a considerable jump in bitcoin mined long term however this becomes quite an interesting investment opportunity once again at these levels...

Bluelight you are exaggerating. DHSC dispute arguable wiped off 50% of the share value from £6.90 a share to £.3.40, £250m worth. If the dispute were to lower the cash pile from £90m to £45m that sort of fall is in line with what you'd expect.

Personally think we'll come out of it fine but the fall is more understandable than you're making out. Looking good today...

Does the Orion CLN really matter if the fundamentals of the business keep improving? It matters short term and it would stall any sharp rises but if management deliver on the expansion plan (4100 to 6800mtV by 2025), the price of Vanadium stays high and the BE part of the business keeps growing and winning tenders then surely funds and big players would move in to cancel out the sellers?

ARCM it's kinda hypothetical as that is a big ask but you'd assume $100m net profit = £71m would command an mcap of something like £850m = ~70p a share.

Is this not exactly what the company would have wanted? Heavy investment for expansion whilst the commodity price is low, now about to reap the rewards as the price of Vanadium rises - this sort of thing is never going to be possible without some financial hardship and then you add coronavirus into the mix...

Well $50 and your $30 all in cost would come out at the same 2.47 forward looking P/E - with the structural deficit in the market deepening who's to say that a price averaging $50/kg isn't possible by next year?!

Faramog I am aware of that, that's why I started with operational costs and then added 15% to that. I know that $22kg however is possibly pushing it operational costs-wise and so total costs will probably end up higher that $25kg in 2022 - still, I did call it a blue sky forecast!

An optimistic but not unrealistic scenario: Production in 2022 ~ 5100 mtV, operating costs dropping to ~$22kg , ($25kg with additional costs), FeV $45kg.

Forward looking profit = 20 x 5100 = $102m = £72m giving a P/E today of 2.47 (BE not included in the calculations).

I mean to an extent ValJu but in reality that's not how it works. There might be more info in the next update about the dispute which leads to increased confidence that we will come out on top and soon and that could turn out to be the straw that break's the camel's back so to speak, it might be enough to lead to strong buying pressure and a rise back to say £5.

By your theory every full year trading update would cause no movement in the share price but that isn't what happens as we know.

Shearclass, we just need the board to share a coherent and credible plan to grow this company that doesn't rely on covid. Still, we are being valued as if there's a high chance that the board are going to fail completely to grow the company and end up back at square one having squandered the cash on failed projects - an outcome that is possible but rather unlikely in my opinion.

We were told Q2 for that, no reason not to deliver on time ,right?

Surely no one's happy with a fall or they would have sold pre-results? Some of us don't mind if it dips a few percent before rising however...

That's only really relevant if people have bought the rumour. No build up into news makes a sell off far less likely...
