Big, that for me is the one thing I cannot get my head around. You’ve got competitors like SourceBio with nothing like ncyt’s potential courting highly respected IIs - Odier Asset Mgmt now own 22% of their shares and Richard Griffiths who is a highly respected private investor has taken a 5% stake.
Yes they’ve done very well to become debt free but they only made £3m last year and are trading at £120m - 40x earnings in covid times which could very well mean back to loss making after covid. Ncyt is more like 1.5 p/e in unprecedented covid times as a comparison.
As for dilution, just no. If, and it's a ginormous if, the company has its sights set on a big fish to acquire then at the very least they'd surely have to actively boost the share price first before a cash raise. Buy back 10 million shares at £36m, watch the share price rally hard then raise cash at ~ £4.50 a share. Would level itself out and leave the SP in a much healthier place.
