RE: Extreme E20 Dec 2021 10:46
Mucksy,
Yeah, I was showing a friend the Odyssey 21 spec only yesterday. 40kW battery pack, 1780kg, no mention of charging speed though.
Watching the races yesterday on YouTube, the commentators were interviewing ExE senior people. They were saying that they have spoken to teams and drivers to get feedback on how to improve ExE next year, and have several things they are working on. The car will be updated in several ways (stonker parts in places, better suspension) but no mention of battery pack increase.
They could do longer races with more battery, but how long would you want to race in those conditions and how would the car handle with say another 20kW of battery weight?
I think they'd like faster charging, as that means they could give drivers more test runs to get to know the circuit. This weekend they only had one lap and then they had to start racing, I don't think that is enough and I think the drivers would be much happier to get 2 or 3 laps of practice, but it looks like they can only do that if they can rapid charge in say 30 minutes afterwards.
HFC will reduce weight and size, which reduces CO2 footprint of the series, and they can up the power of the system too, so seems like a natural transition to me.
