Understand fully your point made bucklefern,
USA elections is causing plenty of volatility as well as COVID - no one seems to be worried too much on the BREXIT situation (YET!!) as they seem to have more pressing issues at the moment!
Just from my experience the last 4/5 days trading days following the RNS on Friday morning confirming and de-risking AEX does not make sense to retrace back so far. I feel there are few games being played here
I had this once with another stock I held a few years ago. I held a good % and the SP was crashing for no reason. I was buying many shares at the time when the selling was taking place. I thought the share price was crazy and was well undervalued. After I placed quite a few large buy trades I received a phone call from my broker advising me to stop with the frequent buying and either put in one large buy order or they will put my account on hold. They advised me that this buying request is stock market etiquette and fair!!. I told them I was buying over multiple accounts and I was reacting to the market so didn't have an actual plan for how many shares I wanted in total for the day
When I tried to buy more after the phone call my account/s were then frozen for the rest of the day and the SP reduced down and continued over the next few days only to bounce back and then some over the next few weeks/months. In theory it did me a favour at the time as I managed to purchase more shares at lower prices paced out over the day/s. But I feel there was an underlining reason for the phone call!
Still not really sure what it was all about back then and I am not saying this is the same situation, but I feel there is something else happening here (cue the X-files music) and it just doesn't feel right (gut feeling) it also seems to have a few other investors perplexed as well
However, I have also been a large seller of stock in order to move shares down to pick up cheaper, but I don't carry out this tactic anymore - and I certainly wouldn't do it when de-risking news has just been received – you would need a lot of shares to carry that out!
Of course I am not trying to buy shares into this fall as I did before, but if this continues I may try a few large buys next week to see if there is a reaction as the volumes are not massive at the moment!
Be interesting to see if we have another flurry of buys and how that affects the SP
