Afternoon
Of course, most of our focus is... and must be ...
upon the horrors being inflicted upon the peoples of Ukraine
What is happening is beyond anything that has occurred in Europe since 1945
Nothing we say and do on here is deserving of even being called a ‘sideshow’
The effect on the prices of gas ...(both spot and all forward contracts...check them out)...
is also beyond anything I have witnessed in many a long year
Many in the UK... and Ireland...coming off fixed price contracts...
will have already seen their energy bills skyrocket
and those bills are set to increase VERY much more in April
and through the year
Of course, domestic consumers can try to limit consumption...(so called demand destruction)
thermostats turned way down...etc
and, in some case, folk limiting the parts of their properties they choose to heat
That is an old trick with some houses...close off unused parts over winter and reopen for the warmer months
We do that ...but our rooms-limiting has never before reached the stage
where we might soon be eating our dinners in a bathroom...LOL
But what about industrial consumers?
Wow...their prices have gone through the roof
and of course those companies cannot always pass on the power price increases to their customers...it’s really serious
But above all there is an even bigger problem
faced by some industrial consumers...in some countries...
LACK of supply
The inability to obtain gas at all...
parts of the World having gone mad
Of course, that will lead to massive failure and bankruptcy of businesses ...
many of which have been in existence for a very long time
I do not say that lightly
Why do I perambulate around gas supply issues
There are two reasons
1) I volunteered to cook dinner tonight for the entire nursing home...
I don’t mind doing that
but I do object to then having to eat the rubbish I produce
2) Has anyone taken a look recently at the gas price assumptions made within ‘Michael Caine’?
Regards
