RE: VISION: HYDROGEN IS REQUIRED FOR EUROPE’S ENERGY TRANSITION18 Feb 2021 17:09
To be honest I didn't know much about 'Hydrogen energy' (and still don't really) but it's being pushed heavily by the EU and by BP, Shell Total etc. It can go in existing gas infrastructure at about a 10% ratio, it's possible "to just throw into natural gas pipelines today"
'The vast majority of the hydrogen used today, 'gray' hydrogen, is produced using fossil fuels, emitting carbon dioxide in the process. 'Blue' hydrogen is made using natural gas and then capturing the carbon dioxide emissions, making it cleaner than gray hydrogen.'
'Bloomberg NEF estimates that an $11 trillion investment in production and storage worldwide through 2050 and more electricity than the world generates now to have green hydrogen meet a quarter of the world's energy needs.'
Hydrogen also essential for green long distance travel like planes and trucks as batteries are too big and heavy and also is being pushed as a supplement and safety net for the unreliability of renewable energies . Makes pretty interesting reading and also some sense. If FRR is sat on a big lump of gas next to gas infrastructure this could be a possible avenue of development, specially if there is a hydrogen loving O&G big boy in the driving seat. Not just an out of the blue windfarm on the 1% of b12 we have left. Legacy oil and gas companies have been pushing hydrogen for the last 10 years and it also fits the MO of Green capital LLC and makes more sense now. However I would of thought they might of mentioned the word Hydrogen once in the last 2 years of media coverage?
