Cobus Loots, CEO of Pan African Resources, on delivering sector-leading returns for shareholders. Watch the video here.
I don't believe it's gotten to this point but am considering whether CAR has committed fiduciary reporting and/or securities fraud with their history of making misleading statements along the way about the state of their business. Depending on the results of investigating this possibility, there may be a shareholder suit to be had here IMO. Clearly CAR is a dysfunctional and incompetent company but it may be possible they are in breach of securities law in their behaviour.
With the release of the new iPhones I would think other manufacturers are thinking very carefully about what kind of new features and wow factors they can add to their phones to stay competitive --- maybe someone will decide it's worth splashing out to have Xsense and integrate it into their design in a clever, eye catching way. Maybe. While we're dreaming, of course ...
Lindon - do you see ATML looking to be a potential part of the vertical supply chain referred to in that piece? IMO that may be what ATML CEO was alluding to on the 6th regarding optimising the IP of Xsense, or maybe you have a different take on it?
IMO there's more to come here over the next 1-3 years ... basing this on the fact that Xsense consumer products have yet to emerge en masse (not seeing anything else from other vendors either - if wrong, please provide a link to a bending phone or flexible screen, thin bezel free design, etc). Nice to see printed electronics having some actual wins as well. This may not return to the £4.00 a share days but you get a dividend to wait and there's a valuation case to be made of £2.25-£2.50 if things keep happening slowly but surely as they have been. All JMHO!
There's a research piece on the ATML Xsense website that describes the market opportunity as being very large but still 3-5 years away - this probably makes sense and explains the disappointment this year of lack of results. Still not seeing other emerging tech that is threatening Xsense (yet) so think there is more to the story still ... jmho.
This has already come under serious downward pressure due to growth disappointments (down -70%-80% or more depending on how you measure it) so I think the market may have arrived at this conclusion already. Also, the P/E is more like 18/20 (again, depending on source) so IMO it is valued correctly now for the current situation and no Xsense growth. IMO Carclo are a victim of their parternship w/ATML, so the company to watch here is ATML. ATML have been doing things behind the scenes (nice parternshipw/Corning and rumoured manufacturing plans). Nothing will happen here until ATML announce some Xsense wins and there is no time table for that, as many think we are past it already. That said, I don't see competition eating Xsense's lunch (... yet).
I'm not sure what competition has actually made inroads on a major scale, though I agree they have to get the costs right with Xsense - but this is up to ATML mostly, not CAR. Also as far as it going below £ 1.00 a share, not sure I agree with that. What is the justification? The numbers support the current share price quite nicely, IMO. Keep an eye on ATML's July report as that may contain an update on Xsense progress but otherwise you are right - holding pattern until something develops.
UniPixel has achieved a breakthrough in the roll-to-roll plating process, overcoming previously reported challenges through modification of hardware and chemistry configurations. The new process conditions have been successfully demonstrated in the roll-to-roll pilot production process, achieving a step-change improvement in plating fine-line conductive elements on its touch sensor film. The company now has a fully-functional, roll-to-roll pilot production line comprised of a plating line at the company's Texas facility, and printing, final testing and packaging at the Kodak facility, a state-of-the-art manufacturing and testing facility within the Eastman Business Park in Rochester, New York. UniPixel and Kodak have begun conducting roll-to-roll pilot manufacturing and yield studies on the overall process, as well as technology transfer of the modified process to production plating assets in the Kodak facility.

Transitioned from lab-based development to roll-to-roll pilot production. Technical work streams now focused on ramping roll-to-roll manufacturing yields.
NIice to see some insider buying, though more participants would be more encourging - given the limited window of chances for insuders to purchase, one would think all directors would be jumping in especially at these levels post-June results which were decent by all accounts. The long term, slow growth story here is intact IMO. The short term, hyper growth story (Xsense) still a bit allusive. The next key date is ATML's next results at end of July. Perhaps ATML will have some news about Xsense plans then, otherwise CAR is stuck w/Sense on the backburner at this point and would be best spending its time locating printed electronics and other opportunities.
Lindon - great post, glad to see both explanation and a positive take on the challenges Xsense faces in getting market share .......... I am surprised at how much they've been caught off guard by the competition and how the competition has been able to be so strong / so quickly. Then again, it was always a bit of a stretch to think the revolutionary technology for next generation consumer tech devices was all down to a small, unknown plastics company in the UK. This is still going to be a huge market and if Xsense can become a player in it, CAR will do well (as will ATML).
Hi Lindon ... thanks as always for the post; that clarifies it quite a bit ..... do you think the 2 things Xsense needs to do now (OGS & supply chain) are achievable and in time for Xsense to regain footing in the market? It seems a big task, actually.
Hi Lindon - rational post! Yes, that excerpt struck me as well, they are clearly underway with something to try and make Xsense more competitive, but will it work and make enough of a difference competitively? No way to know, I don't think ............. so what happened with Surface Pro 3.o? This topic seems to have vanished but is it possible Xsense is involved or does the lack of PR mean someone else is doing it? Ta.
This is a weird stock - it is basically going down after reporting solid earnings and solid growth forecasts --- and growth in some segments for years. Meanwhile Unipixel has gone up 90% in a week based on the news they will have an update on their progress on June 25th. ATML has moved up 50% in the last 6 month on little/no news and Xsense delays ............ the shares are at most fair value using various valuation metrics (QBArtist had a good post behind this with one technique) ........... the Xsense disappointment must really still be being felt by large holders, but they are missing the value that is here in CAR today and the growth overall being forecast in addition to CIT in their rush to continue to dump CAR shares. Very weird.
Lindon - it was nice to see the additional CIT unit focused on printed electronics but agree Xsense is nothing special anymore. There appears to be continuing growth in all segments, not just niche car segment, so that's good news if interpreted that correctly. Still think the stock is under priced a bit on the Xsense debacle given the other positives, especially if current growth and profit rates continue at current rates, but really all JMHO.
