BTW a cross isn't the worst thing either. It means someone, perhaps an institution, is buying a nice load of wres at what they consider a low price. I'd prefer it to be lots of private investors, buy hey, buying is buying.

I've been buying and selling shares for more years than I care to remember, but it's all still a lot of guesswork. The one thing I can tell you for certain is that is wasn't me buying those shares. lol. I'd love to know who is buying though. It is just possible that it is an overhang rather than a cross and the buying is "real". That would mean that one or more buyers want a LOT of wres. Maybe word of the glod has finally got around!

There may be an overhang of shares, but it's gradually being offloaded. So who's doing the buying? I would be extremely surprised if the mms are taking on so much inventory, so I still suspect it's a pre-arranged cross of a large block at .50. If it were "real" buying, the price would have moved quite a bit by now. I thought it was all finished last week, but apparently not.

I have never found anyone - even City traders - who can explain this process clearly. As best I understand it, it is activated when an order has been placed which would move the sp move than a certain percentage from the last automated trade. In the case of Angus I think it's 5% but don't hold me to that. Based on the trading so far today, I expect it is a buy order, but may also be someone trying to take advange of today's price rise. If anyone has a clearer, more detailed definition, I'd love to hear it.

jaf - I'm happy you think my post was useful and informative, but it certainly isn't a rarity on this board. What about all those useful and informative posts about gardening, cooking and nuns? Not to mention learning that there is a very rare form of Spanish gold called glod, which will bring untold wealth to those who believe in it. Now is that a great board or what?

Big volume and no price movement can mean either that the buys and sells were in balance (unlikely in this case) or that the trade has been pre-arranged. So the MMs had both buyer and seller lined up and didn't have to take a position themselves. When this trade is completed, it's back to business as usual, which means order imbalances result in a change in sp. The MMs are sometimes a bit crafty, but they're not the criminals many make them out to be.

My guess is a pre-arranged block trade at .50 which, for one reason or another, had to have a market print. In any case, it looks like the trade may have been completed and what we see now are normal trades. If the MMs did bring the price down a bit to facilitate the block trade, a few more decent buys should have us breaking through the .50 ask. Don't trade on this observation - I have been known to make some very mistaken observations and then act on them. My wife will confirm this, although she always seems to have the benefit of hindsight.

When I was a lot younger, my dream, when someone asked me "so what do you do?", was to be able to say "do? I don't do anything", with just a hint of a sneer on the second "do". Then I retired. Would the gentlemen please retire to their respective corners and calm down? When you come out again, please shake hands, apologise to each other and then get back to the business of this board? It would be greatly appreciated by most of us here and would show us that you're both adult enough to rise above petty bickering. It would also allow both of you to return to making the valuable contributions that used to make this board worth reading.

Tracarta never would have bought those shares without checking with GC first. Possibly even bought the shares at GC's suggestion. There is more going on here than we know and as I have said before, we will be told only when it suits GC's and his mates purposes. Still, this is a troubling and puzzling RNS, even by this company's standards.

Hbob is almost certainly correct when he says the mms are working away a large order. Don't blame them - they're just doing what mms do.

Glod is the most valuable form of gold. It's found in only one place in Spain and is so rare that it's not even traded on any market. Buyers come to Spain to offer tremendous sums for just a few ounces.

I'm not all that negative about GC. True, he's probably the kind of guy you count your fingers after shaking hands with, but in this case I really think his main offense was ignorance about mining, tantalum, ore processing, etc. To his great credit, when he realised he was in over his head in an industry he didn't know too much about, he brought in the right person take over and sort things out. There was an awful lot to set right and LJ seems to be doing a good job. But don't for a moment think that GC wants this company back on the rails just for us; he and his mates at Tracarta are looking to save their own investment. I'm still willing to give LJ a chance to show what he can do and to give GC the benefit of the doubt until shown otherwise. I'd still count my fingers if I ever have the opportunity to meet him, though.

When this board went from objective discussion to personal attacks a year or two ago, I proposed that on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays we only post comments on the company, its operations, its management, etc and that we save all the who's a ramper / deramper, liar, idiot and similar posts for Tuesdays and Thursdays. Then, depending on what kind of poster you are, you'd know exactly when to look at the board and when you could ignore it for a day. I think it might be time to revive that proposal.
