Medics do want it, they have stated as such. They also want better working conditions too. Perhaps the new shiny labour government will oblige both requests. lol, those sentences exude entitlement. I'm afraid the market will decide the value of your investment, Mr PensionInvestor, you may only get to choose when you sell be it in profit or loss. GDR is one of the biggest gambles on aim, despite turning a corner wrt NICE full recommendation and playing second fiddle to lab testing GDR are dependent on hand out from PIs. GDR management noticed that PI's are not willing to stump up the cash any more (unsurprisingly, after years of failed products) and are wondering what the point of AIM is if it can't raise the cash it needs.

So there are two hurdles for GDR at the moment

1) ensure as many hospitals as possible possess the POC kit

2) convince clinicians to use it

No easy task at all, especially considering GDRs form regarding sales outside friends and family.

Mr Stephen, Its not rubbish that Mr Stu is writing its an assumption. I'm assuming that all clinicians at the NHS will think the same as Professor Newman ie results are time critical because thats what the medical research shows. Someone needs to ask NICE whether clinicians will be free to choose between lab tests and POC kit (assuming they have a choice in the hosptial owns a POC kit) based on their interpretation of the availability of the result of the test ie8 lab test reseults are not available within hours , and clinicians and the research suggests that a test result within 4 hours will prevent lots of secondary strokes and save the NHS millions.

It's almost political now, as another poster alluded to in july when they posted the minutes of a discussing in the house of commons regarding who's opinion should be considered to have priority the clinicians or NICE.

Regardless, if GDR do not ensure the POC kit is present in hospitals then this discussion is wholely irrelevent anyway as the clinicians will have no choice but to opt for lab tests.

I'm not going to interview a clinician with that specific answer but I will just refer you to the answer from Professor Bill Newman. NICE have recommended GDRs POC kit.

It basically implies that clinicians will choose POC or lab testing if they are given the option. The option is not available to clinicians if the hospital doesn't possess and GDR POC kit. And that's were GDR need to focus now, ensuring that every hospital has a POC kit, which is why I suggested they need to give them out for free otherwise sales figures of the tests WILL be disappointing. To be honest, I think GDR would have more success selling the POC kit abroad eg USA, south asia and middle east. I'm no ramper, but when a deramper spouts as much black and white nonsense as a ramper, it really irritates.

Yet, here in the sales RNS just a couple of weeks ago is a professional clinician stating that POC test is important due to risk of second stroke being time critical:

Can you expand on your logic?

the professor in particular mentions the speed of the result being crucial in preventing subsenquent stroke.

The nice guidelines state "availability" and presumable cost aspect is involved as lab testing is only cheaper if requested in bulk, ie for multiple patients in the same request (which presumably may delay the result even further depending on when the bulk request is fulfilled).

If POC was cheaper than lab tests, regardless I wonder whether NICE would've stated POC is the first choice, and if not available then lab testing.

Clinicians who choose GDR POC kit will follow NICE recommendations.. if the lab test result is unavailable within the timeframe required by the patient and clinician to prevent risk of secondary stroke, then GDR will be used.

This argument applies if POC test and lab test is positive.

You have not throught Mr Stu. The only situation of concern is if the POCs result is wrong, yet the results state that the POC has been more accurate than lab results, if I recall correctly.
