Fair play Ascential have really demonstrated how it's done. After selling off one division for $850m and returning all that to shareholders, then they get a bid for the rump still at a whopping premium.
In their case it the separation might have been made easier by their two main divisions being so different, events vs digital marketing, maybe naturally suited them being apart.
With THG, nutrition and beauty would be fine as standalones, the trickier thing is dealing with Ingenuity. It's a kind of parasite at the heart of everything, tough to carve out. Any theoretical acquirer of beauty/nutrition would likely want to use their own or a more universal backend, to a) save costs b) save hassle of integrating what is not a widely used platform. As we know, without nutrition/beauty propping it up, Ingenuity would not be viable.
