Probably a brief Teams call where CDT blag about being on cusp of something sometime soon with lots of pharmacological words that sound important, while Vela lap it up. Suits Vela to not scrutinise too closely so they can maintain the charade too, but they can't have banked on the market seeing through CDT so brutally and so soon.

The simplest explanation is that CDT's IPO was just their exit liquidity, and that there was no plan after that. The company's SEC filings have a series of notifications for breaking various rules, they don't appear very interested in complying with usual norms. It's all very suspect.

Easy to say all this in hindsight but if Vela had asked for (or projected themselves) a simple cash flow forecast from CDT - simply showing the millions they burn every quarter vs no revenue - it would have been clear where this was going.

It's certainly had a spectacular fall. Quite rare to see an utter collapse like this, only really seen similar on companies that went on to declare bankruptcy. Whether that happens there who knows, but I wouldn't bet against it, with zero revenue while burning through millions every quarter.

Yeah bullet dodged there. Tad surprised Bellway still only credible offer on the table but still in offer period so we'll see if anyone else emerges between now and 8th Aug. The other slightly surprising factor is 0.099 Bellway shares + div still a reasonable premium to Crest price. Quite a rare arbitrage opportunity, assuming deal's a goer. Similarly Bellway holders could sell up and buy here to get more bang for buck.

Up 150% since IPO two days ago is quite an achievement. Looks a bit frothy now but does go to show the value of having decent management with an excellent track record. Reports of LSE's death may have been exaggerated, if this is anything to go by at least. If it carries on like this, you never know maybe cash shells will become fashionable again.

Does get a bit farcical when you have one user making up 15 of those posts in a single day on one stock, all in an apparent self-appointed board policeman role.

What the RNS didn't mention is that they invested £57.5m+ in Graphcore, so they actually lost at least £13.7m on this investment.

Yes as well as the actual rules, it's certainly morally dubious to try to dangle a carrot of claiming to know something positive the rest of the market doesn't know, if you stand to financially benefit from that claim.

I would be careful boasting about having inside information, particularly on a stock like this that will be watched especially closely because of the alleged insider trading that has occurred here.

Warpaint is an extremely well run company and you've pointed out that key difference - consistently growing revenue and profit thanks to its margins. Revb is being investigated by the FCA, has a negative net asset value (liabilities/debt outweigh assets) and company itself says it has material uncertainty over its ability to continue as a going concern within current financial year.

For what it's worth Iren had a short report today, haven't read it great detail as no real interest in that stock, but main argument they make is that Iren's been overstating their HPC capabilities and that it's overpriced based on factors such as MW vs proper players like Corz/Applied, which all seems quite reasonable to me https://x.com/CulperResearch/status/1811419606197960756

Agree Bellway are definitely getting this on the cheap. Will need a white knight now, but if anything was going to wake up another bidder you'd think it would be seeing this proposed deal.

I think it hasn't helped that Crest and Bellway have a significant number of large shareholders in common who have spoken in favour of this deal. For them it would be nothing more than a portfolio tidy up job. Crest's recent track record has left management a bit weakened to fight against it as everyone can see they've struggled a bit as a standalone.

Bellway have been canny playing on that vulnerability and striking now just as market recovery starting.

Have to agree on CLNs being a overhang.

They're always a bit of a last resort instrument. While they're often issued on very generous terms to CLN holders, for everyday joe shareholders they tend to have an insidious impact on sentiment. Seen this happen to so many aim companies.

In this case market all too aware in 5 months time the CLN holders have option to buy at half today's price, so naturally it'll get pulled in that direction.

I could see Persimmon placing a bid directly. They have a lot of firepower as one of few majors, and with their share price up 50% over last year they'd have the equity boost to back it up.

We know they're looking at acquisitions after reports they were looking at L&G's Cala homes a few months ago. Interestingly talk of that bid went quiet after Crest came into play - and at a much bigger discount to tangible NAV than Cala.
