Breath samples have been shown to be more reliable than nasal swabs for detecting Covid-19, a new study published by researchers at the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland (RSCI) has shown.

The research, published in the British Medical Journal publication Thorax, is among the first studies globally to investigate the potential use of breath samples to detect coronavirus.

Professor Bryan Hennessy, one of the lead researchers involved, said the findings were “quite dramatic” and described the research as “cutting edge”.

Standard testing for Covid-19 at present relies on swabs taken from the nose, which are then tested for the virus using reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests.

While considered the gold standard, the current testing regime can yield a high rate of false negatives and fail to detect the virus, which commonly affects the respiratory system.

“False negatives from swabs are quite high and that has been shown internationally to be around 30%. If you take 100 people with Covid-19 approximately one third of them will swab negative,” Prof Hennessy said.

Breath samples, however, contain droplets from the lower respiratory system and for that reason may improve detection of the virus.

Hey Chesh, GB would not be able to tell us if DVGR or MWG We’re involved, that would be material and could only be announced via an RNS IMHO, unfair to ask him on this board.

I think that the detection of viruses in waste water is nothing new, indeed I believe in the USA they are even starting to track Polio, what is different with DVRG is the passive testing the, machine sits there and alerts the stakeholder if there is an issue, as far as I am aware all other waste water testing is done manually , I also believe that the tec has very strong worldwide patents, for me this is the Jewell in the Crown, its application will be for things like Cruise Ships, Rest Homes, Offices, anywhere that would benefit from continuous monitoring of a group of people, currently testing is done by taking a sample manually, therefore there is currently no such thing as automated continuous monitoring, apart from the DVRG&RAW

What you say it correct, there would need to be a daily test, the BT system is not a panacea, it’s just a way of opening up certain industry’s , before you get a flight you demonstrate that there is no Covid on your breath, every day on a cruise you take a test and your clear for 24 hours, the cost of a daily test is around £4.00 compare that daily cost to the amount of money lost to Airlines and the Cruise industry over the last 7 months and it’s a very real option IMHO,
That’s my understanding of what is on offer, I am no expert and happy to be corrected

There is no such thing as a competitor in the current crisis, and no one solution will resolve it before a vaccine can be developed, produced, and distributed worldwide.
IMHO There will be many solutions to real-time testing, DVRG BT will be one, and perhaps, we are a little further down the line than most in its development and according to GB, have the capacity to produce over 100 million units from a standing start.
However, the real jewell in the crown is the RWA test, it’s proven patented technology with multiple applications with the MWG distribution channel, combined with the revenues for retro fitting across the world there is real sustainable growth ahead.
Those of us that invested pre pandemic will remember the RNS towards the end of 2019, announcing the RAW monitoring system, an RNS like many that have not gained the attention or credit it merited, in hindsight it’s proved to be visionary, give the team a little time and we will all benefit, and more than financially.

Now I am no salesman but this looks an easy sell to me, for a £30.00 BT unit and £4.00 a day that's the Cruise industry open for £86.00 per person for a 14 day holiday, and of course, perhaps people would be happy to pay a premium for the knowledge that your traveling companions are tested daily.
And as I have said countless times before Covid it not the reason I invested in the first place.

Hi Roger, You are on my mind regularly. We have the MicroTox PD units specifically designed for the five sludge tanks on your ship. We can't take samples on each floor, as we have to install them after the vacuums due to the low water content under pressure. We have to complete the 5,000 tests before the end of the year and we will have it ready for the Cruise industry early in 2021, which really is when your ship can take on first passengers. Thankfully the wastewater units can be retrofitted so nothing about heading back to port as each tank has isolation and still maintain mission critical state. Also, before you set off, the dormant water in the piping system will need to be flushed out due to the risk pathogens building up. I am sure your engineer has that on his list of things to do

Retrieby I asked the question during the meeting yesterday and GB said the consolidation took place today for mwg at 8am very clear, not a massive issue if an error was made but I would like to know if this is a processing error of GB just made an error and the consolidation takes place at a later date.

Will the MWG deal hold the share price back if there is news announced, say something is published next week that sends the share price up significantly, then buying MWG shares sub 4p, could buy you a share at a much higher price, confused .com, any explanation appreciated
