Lab based PCR type test.

I thought I’d see what was circulating on the board this evening. A good crop of sad drea pers usually bodes well for the morning - so I am very optimistic.

For those so intent on drilling to down to if/how/when an Avacta test could be adapted to any future dominant variants (if indeed changes were needed) questions right back at you; which is the alternative, better rapid test that already detects current and future variants ?
The fact is we are testing. We will continue to test. We wish to use the best test. Which test is that ?

This discussion has already been aired in early March. The current test about to receive CV/CE detects all the relevant variants of the moment. I have no doubt they are sitting on range of Affirmers ready for use against a range of of other strains, and indeed other pathogens, for when they are needed.

I most certainly do know how PCR works and used to do it before cyclers were produced, having to move samples between water baths. But that's showing my age.
You can indeed change primers and revalidate the PCR. You can also change the Affirmers in an LFD.
Show me the RNS saying it doesn't detect all variants ?

New variants of the Covid19 virus are appearing all over the world (including one in France that may not be detected by PCR). Thank heavens Affirmers are so readily and rapidly adaptable to new targets and that the current Avacta test detects them all.
