When ii's start dumping millions of shares at a pittance a share, you know it's time to get out. One can assume they know more than the average small shareholder and for them to be willing to sell at a huge loss tells you all you need to know about how the majors view the outlook for the company.

Cineworld hit by another missile fired by Polaris

London’s investors continued to dump shares in Cineworld after one of the cinema chain’s biggest shareholders dissolved a stake. The Boston-based Polaris Capital Management has offloaded its remaining 3.5 per cent holding, leaving it with no position in the struggling group. It had already reduced its stake to about 4.7 per cent from 7.8 per cent as of last Wednesday, days before it emerged that the company was preparing to file for bankruptcy.

As this article points out, ii's were offloading days before news was broken to the market (by the media) about the bankruptcy. Correct me if I'm wrong, but if major shareholders, ii's etc, sell on insider information days before that information is made public, that's insider trading and completely illegal?

There is zero chance of Cineworld being bought out. Any buyer would be taking on all the company's debt - why would they do that when they could just wait a while for the company to go into administration then buy the assets for a bargain price (and they wouldn't have any of the debt)

I think he knew a long time ago the company was likely to go bust, isn't that why he's been paying himself a huge salary and bonus these last few years? I think he's just been milking it while it's still afloat. The shareholders have never been a high priority for this company.

It looks to me this will be in the 1's next week - it drops a little bit more every day, look at the charts it's still trending down

It doesn't matter how tough things are right now, or how tough they get, you will never stop millions of people from jetting away on holiday. They would rather cut back on just about anything in order to save for their holiday abroad. And covid created a coiled spring effect, that's why demand is so strong. If demand could be fully met, the airlines would be absolutely booming right now. Worth saying also, those who are unable to get away during the summer because of all the issues at the airports etc, do you honestly believe they're just going to settle for not going abroad this year? Trust me, those who couldn't get away this summer will be looking to get away in the autumn or winter instead - demand doesn't disappear when it can't be met during peak season, what happens is it spills over to the autumn and winter. The airlines will see strong demand continuing right through the autumn and winter. There are over 2000 winter holidays to choose from on the easyJet website, no shortage of options for singles, couples and families, no shortage of destinations to places where sun and warmth is pretty much guaranteed all year round.

The problem with massive dilution is even if market cap increases, the share price barely moves. If shares in issue increased to something like 5bn, a market cap of £250m to £500m would = just 5p to 10p a share.

Is it possible for the airlines to take legal action against the airports?

I have to admit, I didn't think we'd see the price fall as much as this. Back in 2015, I briefly held 90,000 shares @ 25p average and sold way too early at around 33p. The company is far bigger than it was back then - surely this isn't heading back to the kind of prices we saw in 2015? I'm not a holder by the way, just an interested observer.

This isn't going to end well for shareholders. Those who stay in to the bitter end are almost guaranteed to lose their investments. Far better to sell out while you still can - even a few pence is better than 0p.

They've had all year to press that button to be fair.. none of them can say they weren't warned this was likely to happen
