I was referring to some posters on here who blamed the buyback for the decline in the share price over the last 6 months or so......

Indeed Brexit is and has been weighing heavily on Lloyds. Lloyds is a bit of a bell weather stock for Brexit. Lloyds is wedded to the UK economy now and uncertainties of Brexit are having a detrimental effect. Glad to see some sensible comment instead of the nonsense pedalled by the odd one or two posters that removing 2.2% of the shares from circulation had caused the drop. The buyback’s finished and the share price has not recovered so I guess a bit of private humble pie is being eaten.

The buyback has nothing to do with the current Lloyds share price. Only an idiot would think so.

You may well be right Andy. What is more worrying is that monetary policy has failed and we may have to follow Trumps fiscal policy to kickstart things as the BoE has little wriggle room left.

Hi again Graham. I guess it’s a case of div in your pocket but the share price lower or share price higher but no div in your pocket. I can’t get too excited about which way round it is to be honest.

Jamesroo will have you believe that the ongoing buyback for some inexplicable reason has led to a 8p depreciation in the share price since it started. Now it’s finished and the share price is still dropping, I guess he’s going to have to come up with another excuse now.

Trouble with gold at the moment stagecoach is the price moves oppositely to the strength of the dollar. Do you think the dollar is going to strengthen or weaken from here ?

JamesCuckoo - the buyback has finished in case you weren’t aware. Perhaps you can explain why the share price is dropping today because you can’t use 1.6bn shares removed from the register as an excuse anymore.

Italy's Deputy PM said yesterday the country’s deficit could breach the EU’s ceiling of 3% of GDP next year as the country looks to raise €7.5bn in a debt auction tomorrow. Won’t be long before the next Eurozone crisis cometh......

Pray tell livestock, how did Lloyds suppress the share price ? I don’t remember seeing any profit warnings or bad news put out. I’m curious......

Poor old JR, off again blaming the cancelling of almost 1.6bn shares on the share price dropping. I’d have hoped at his venerable age that he would have understood by now the mathematical logic of buybacks and that shares can drop for a number of different reasons. When XLM turned south and halved in value JR, what did you blame it on as they weren’t running a buyback programme ?
