Nothing happens super fast in drc but i think it could be valuable

Copper deposits in drc have a grade 2 to 3x those of South America. Some waste dumps even have higher grade than operating mines in Chile. A key factor is they are going in early which is clever.

Having looked at copper deposits in drc I think they have a good set tools. Processing missed fine material as they used floatation and the geology is quite mixed up between sulphides and oxides in that region.

Might be long term but a good deal could be significant

If you look at the actions of india.

1. Making agreements with us.

2. Marking out the claim

3. Giving silly arguments in court

4. Drilling out deposit. Spending money for us.

5. Bragging about its value

6. Proving the value of it via auction while we are suing them.

It's clear there is no high power in india coordinating the decisions. Just a Web of chaos from lots of different department taking strange isolated decisions.

Sadly for india they are responsible for trying to defend this mess as being sensible. There is no reason to expect it to be sensible.

A few things I liked in the interview.

Mark came across as very rational. He did not take anything personal and just sees arbitration as a process. You don't look for revenge, just find the best solution for all.

A key reason why I like these cases was also noted. In a corporate case often the people taking actions are more calculated, they are employees who are senior and accountable. The company as an entity acts to do something.

When you move into these situations with govs it is normally driven by some people thinking they can make a fast buck. They won't be held accountable and so they act out of greed, and the more loose the governance the easier it is.

When individuals with power are not ultimately accountable and act in self interest they can really do dumb s^*t and that is why you get strong cases.

I think the real issue is we are just building a new industry from scratch. Feedstock agreements will take time.

Hopefully the uk will start to discuss mirroring the new EU proposal to ban rare earth e waste exports.

I think momentum will come from industry and policy, we are just at the start of an industry
