I agree regards the court case still being an issue.
As much as a number here say it's clearly in the bag and all going great guns for Cineworld.
None of us here are expert in the field of such matters and I think many find it hard to be truly impartial (most of us have a stake in this company).
However slim or otherwise it might be until the judgement is given there is the possibility to consider of Cineworld losing the case.
Financially that could be disastrous to us and any potential institutional investor will indeed have this in mind.
That outcome might be a 1% chance, but it is still on the table currently.

Box office to date is still not at levels we wanted (one weekend or two isn't my measure).

Still expect a continued improvement, but as yet we are not there in the comfy seats smoking finest Cuban cigars.

Without doubt the best weekend box office for Cineworld since re-opening.
Venom doing the business in USA and Bond here in UK.
c. 4 - 5 times the revenues for us this weekend from Venom v Bond, though Bond will get it's big turn next weekend :-)

Importantly also a very good start to the month and the quarter in efforts to get back much closer to pre pandemic levels. :-)
This weekend alone has already done c. 1/3 of the whole of September in US.

No we haven't I am afraid.
This is a global business highly dominated by USA and NOT UK.
Yes we possibly have hit better than 90% precovid levels for THIS WEEKEND in the UK.
However that is it, not for weeks and months so far and NOT as a business group.
Things are improving GRADUALLY, but we are NOT (YET) doing 90% precovid levels in a meaningful way.

It was the fact the business just reopened to a reasonably strong performance. We have now traded for a number of months and as yet not hitting the higher end of our base case as a group.
Great if we get an upbeat RNS, I think it unlikely.

Tomorrow we shall see.

Lets see what Venom does over the weekend.
UK is NOT big enough part of business to warrant an RNS just for one good weekend from one movie (IMHO).
While Bond doing well here is great to hear and see it is still small part of business and doesn't materially effect the finances.
Remember also it's no good having one movie with strong attendances as it is not in every single screen all day every day. We also need people attending other screens/movies.
Again there is still a real lack of depth of releases.
This does show signs of changing at least for that week of 15th October.
Many of us have waited plenty time, bit more patience won't hurt now.

Venom seems to be off to a good start (will possibly have done more Friday than Bond will for whole weekend or even week)

Yes, and with it being released in larger market for is at this point it will do more for business this week than Bond.
Bond will possibly/probably go on to be bigger for us, but this week the coffers benefit more from Venom.

Overall I enjoyed it and felt a good effort as Daniel Craig's exit.
Screening was maybe 30% full, not of the levels say Marvel End Game would have drawn precovid on a midnight screening but solid for those crazy enough to see it less than half a day earlier than most.
Couple other small things:
Cineworld and the industry seem to be upping their game knowing they must push to get all their previous customers and hopefully some fresh blood back.
I got a reminder email during the day that I had screening at midnight (never had that previously).
Strong trailers for the big film looking no doubt to cash in from Bond high attendances to future big films.
The Starbucks and other concessions were open and cinema was well staffed (not sure that was the case on pre covid midnight showings, I could be wrong and will claim old man brain or about two hours sleep ;-)
Was taken by the depth of movies for October, after Bond gets to dominate for c.2 weeks.
November and December also looks better than we have had May - September.

UK way ahead of our key USA market so far.

For all the (correct) talk of 75 - 80% levels (these are UK) , We "might" do c. 55% in USA for September.
That is against a traditionally very low months figures. We will be less than August or July to put it in context.
September was a month of one BIG movie and very little else.
Bond hopefully starts this key change.
We see for example Venom 2 also this month.
The numbers will ultimately speak for themselves.

Bonks, I saw it last week and audience I watched it with seemed to give it fairly muted response.
Don't see it going down as future classic such as the godfather.
Personally thought it was so so.

Bond will be my first midnight visit in a fair while.
These screenings usually attract good numbers for the Marvel stuff etc (I was very surprised first time I went to one).

Cruis it is because the compulsive liar had to take time to find suitable trades to add up to his fantasy number.
He sold at 71p and bought Lloyds he told us, it become TUI when they looked better for a rise.
He was going to definitely buy back in a few previous day's also, but unfortunately for him there were not enough bigger trades he could easily add up to claim as his so miraculously those definate buy days passed in the 60's.

Unfortunately some take anything he says as having even a grain of truth.

No doubt I will be the bad guy in raising this, rather than the cause.
Doesn't change my holding so let the fantasy continue, hopefully others see through it
