Roundtable Discussion; The Future of Mineral Sands. Watch the video here.
Just wait till the 6.7% of Solg held in Treasury after the Cornerstone deal concludes is sold to another Major ( or the Japanese / Chinese) then you’ll really see some smoke coming out of BHP’s ears! Karma springs to mind and it can’t come soon enough! The time has come to push back against these bullies and remind them they aren’t running the show!
How hypocritical! You spout on about people ramping but looking at your posting history you have a clear agenda to Deramp! Not sure whether its paid or for personal gain either way its so disingenuous and you need to be called out for it! So before you go throwibg accusations around go and have a good long look in the mirror!
Hope your right! Glad you called it right on those Black Swan Events. Sadly I didn’t but hey that’s investments for you - some you win and some you lose! Hoping Solg will help redress the imbalance and make me a tidy profit :)
Ha ha :) Wish it was MF. No the plain and simple truth is that a number of years ago I was heavily invested in Lloyds Banking and had just started posting on this site so I chose the moniker FTJNY which at the time was Lloyds corporate strapline in their advertising “ For The Journey “
Boring but sadly true as were my losses in Lloyds when we voted to come out the EU which was ironic as I too voted to leave so maybe I should have paid more attention in my own convictions and less to the press which were all saying we would never vote to leave! One of my life’s more expensive learnings but at least I’m still carrying forward the losses on my tax return so MAYBE one day I can offset them against a stonking big profit! Hmmmm now where could that come from ?
Sorry Woody it was me speculating if the reason for the pulled ( or failed) fund raise might have been a bid subject to DD and a confidentiality agreement? The overwhelming consensus was No so not for the first time have I been barking up the wrong tree but I felt worth posing the question :)
I have been thinking about the recent fund raise which was pulled ( or failed) depending on your point of view and one scenario I feel worth considering is one where Solg tried to get away another Royalty deal (along with a limited equity raise for the regionals) but the royalty element provoked a response from BHP who decided enough was enough and put in a bid either for the whole company or a JV? Either way in such a scenario the proposed fund raise would have to be halted whilst due diligence was carried out and under such circumstances their would be a news blackout which is pretty much precisely what we currently have! Pure conjecture I accept but it would explain a lot of things which don’t seem quite right at the moment. Any views anyone?
Bozi, It’s not daft at all. IMO it’s simple common sense “not to air your dirty linen in public” It might make you personally feel better but it’s negativity is destructive and value destroying! Positivity breeds positivity as we have seen many times over many years as investors have piled into Solg not just based on maybe a good drill result or a fund raise but also collective positive sentiment towards the stock a bit like herd mentality. But flip it the other way and with posts like you have made recently along with others it’s unfortunately all to easy to instil doubt and fear among fellow investors and with so little volume exchanging hands on a daily basis it doesn’t take many sells to push down the SP. So maybe next time you are inclined to vent your spleen and get something off your chest just ponder for a minute whether you are helping matters or are part of the problem perpetuating a feeling of negativity towards the very stock you are holding. If it’s the latter then you might as well get a gun and shoot your big toe off!
Zoros bet your one of those people who join a meeting and suck all the positivity out the room as soon as you arrive with your doom and gloom attitude. I’m sure you could get a job as the big bad Wolf popping balloons at kiddies birthday parties cackling when you upset them!
I wholeheartedly agree with some of the sentiments expressed by Fort recently around the negativity expressed by certain posters and the harm it can have. It brings to mind the adage “Would you pi@s on your own doorstep?” Of course you wouldn’t! So why if you’re invested in Solg (note the key word IF!) would you be so vociferous in expressing such negative views? To my mind it beggars belief and the cumulative effect of such posting is to surpress positive sentiment which as a shareholder is a bit like shooting oneself in the foot! But it’s a free world and people can express their views as they see fit. I just wish people would engage brain before putting pen to paper!
Would largly agree with your observation DTH but as Damers rightly pointed out Solg SP spiked by around 15% on TSX a few weeks back and it wasn't replicated on LSE so there are exceptions let's hope this is one of them
Apart from the above argument which Q spouts incessantly his other claim is that Solg have repeatedly said they can raise the necessary funding with minimal dilution to take Alpala to production. Of course Solg are going to say this otherwise they would be a sitting duck for a cheap takeover by the likes of BHP! Solg are merely playing the game when they talk of funding to production. Its just like any high stakes deal, bluff and double bluff and see who blinks first!
