What you say about Octopus increasing recently is interesting. They say in language typical of their peers that they "look to support management teams with the potential to build a bigger business. As well as analysing company financial reports, the team uses market forecasts to assess the growth potential of companies and their competitors. When making investments the team maintains a proven, disciplined investment approach, looking for companies that exhibit the following traits:
• Strong management team
• Healthy balance sheet (sufficient funds to execute their growth plans)
• Niche product or market with growth potential
• Clear potential for profitability

Is this why you think they have increased their stake recently?

As for project Dragon, from what I gather, University of Southampton researchers were still involved 7 months ago, so back in February 2022. What happened when Sprinter results cam out I do not know. The fact that they sent a representative to the Synairgen AGM in June remains intriguing.

I cannot speak to the accusation you place at the feet of Synairgen's management regarding missed opportunities. By "best skills" at their doorstep, I assume you mean the company you mentioned below called TopMD, another University of Southampton spin out., who in 2020 press released the following: "Together with Scientists from Medicine and Biological Sciences and University spin out company, Synairgen, TopMD will lead molecular phenotyping in a €14m EU-funded international consortium for COVID-19 advanced diagnostics"].

The more interesting question for me is why did TopMD send a 'representative' to Synairgens 2022 AGM in June, some 4 months post-Sprinter, particularly if Synairgen failed to utilise their skills, which, I assume is what Tony is alluding to...? Why the continued interest in Synairgen...?

I must admit I hadn't read the piece on Sprinter in the ATS Conference report before now so thanks for posting the link earlier.

"The primary endpoint of time to hospital discharge was not reached, but in a subgroup of patients over 65 years, with comorbidities and some other characteristics, there was a significant reduction in worsening of the disease, compared to placebo. So, this study certainly stimulates additional research on interferon ß, for very specific allocated groups."

It is good to have such clear validation on the merit of SNG001 from the Editor of the ATS Conference report. I note he is an author/co-author of over 330 peer-reviewed papers and many textbook chapters on respiratory medicine, so no stranger to academic rigour. To pick the findings of the Sprinter trial as one of 3 top highlights of the conference (and the first mentioned in the report) is, IMHO, quite encouraging.

Bragging about shorting this stock on Advfn really doesn't help push the tedious 'this company is $hit" narrative.

Whenever I want out of an investment, I simply sell. I don't spend mornings, evenings, weekends attempting to sway narratives about my poor investment judgement and perceived negatives. If it wasn't clear why a cadre of a dozen or so self-described 'well respected' (and some Not so well respected) 'LTHs' have reappeared en masse in the past 3 days , it should be clear now; they want your shares for 15p AND NOT A PENNY MORE!

Not sure I follow your logic there Docdaneeka. Why is it too late to play for a Senior Medical Writer to play any role in regards to outstanding LC or Activ2 data? I should imagine it would make sense to have a dedicated resource assigned to carefully craft messaging around SNG's pending data and the story it holds, via website, presentations, abstracts, publications, etc? There is no room for clumsy missteps if the data is as we hope. A Senior Writer should assure that. In February they had expensive Ray Jordan to take care of PR stateside, but having a company resource now probably makes more financial and tactical sense. I think of it as less neutral and more positive a development. Just my take on it.

Ghia, I assumed it was a new hire, particularly as it's a 'Senior' hiring rather than a bog standard 'Medical Writer', 2 different beasts as you will agree. Seasoned regulatory submission experience etc being something I would expect of a Senior MW, not necessarily of a more junior one. I've seen no evidence of a previous such role at Synairgen, hence the question. I no longer take things as 'obvious' I'm afraid. The devil is in the detail.
