I would say the relationship between these 2 things should be fairly obvious.

BA.4.6 is a new variant which is spreading . Rising hospitalisation rates in EU where BA.4.6. is gaining traction may indicate a correlation between those 2 facts.

This week EU health commissioner Kyriakides spoke after writing to EU health ministers warning of a “concerning surge” in cases under way in the EU, including increasing rates of severe illness and hospital and intensive care admissions, urging them to do more to prepare for what could be a rough autumn and winter in the bloc.
