There must be something big in the pipeline, or Akzo Nobel wouldn't have been advertising a vacancy for a new Research Chemist to support their fuel emulsion customers, would they? They can only have decided to hire someone after speaking to QFI. The closing date for that vacancy was almost 7 weeks ago, there's a good chance someone will be starting in that new position soon, if they haven't already. Let's hope they have lots of customer sites to visit in the coming months, maybe in Saudi, Japan or Spain, hopefully even in all three.

Maybe they could use LNG with a scrubber, that would probably clean the emissions :-D

Wartsila are also involved in the scrubber business, so you would think that they are on our side. They should even be promoting a fuel which reduces the pay-back time of the scrubber installation and probably makes its job a lot easier too.

Cheers DPE, I thought there was a difference in the engine types, I just got them round the wrong way. Hopefully that means Carnival could start using MSAR without another 4,000 hours of trial to satisfy Wartsila.

Would we need a LONO for these cruise ships to use MSAR? I'm sure this was discussed before, but my memory is fading. I think cruise ships run on 2-stroke engines, not the 4-stroke ones which were used in the Maersk trial. In fact would MSAR2 even be needed, would MSAR not work in the type of engines which Carnival et al use? I can't remember, its been a while.

hhowlett, there has been a lot of speculation over the last few days that the IPO might be delayed again, but it's just speculation. Nobody in the media knows very much, a bit like us Quadrise shareholders, the Saudis do hold their cards very close to their chest. There's been quite a lot of posts strangely disappearing over the last few months. I can understand when they are defamatory or bordering on market abuse, but some of them like the one TheOrns posted earlier are completely innocent and factual, why they are being removed I don't know. Certain well known individuals are probably reporting them, but why LSE then decides to remove them I don't understand.

An asteroid could hit Shoaiba next week and wipe it out. It's highly unlikely, almost as unlikely as KSA removing oil from their electricity generation plans in the next decade, but IT COULD HAPPEN. petergar, if you tried to do even some basic research, it would be very easy to see that oil is going to have a massive part to play in electricity generation in Saudi for a long time to come. They almost need to double overall capacity in the next 12 to 15 years. Yes they are desperately trying to invest in solar and renewables, but it will be an almighty task to try and meet all of the huge future demand with it. Which is why they are still building oi-fired power stations in KSA today, by the end of this year there will have added almost 15GW of new oil-fired capacity in previous 24 months. And they're not going to be turning them off for many more years. Add to this their new ambitious expansion plans for the refining business at Aramco, MSAR fits perfectly in with it. I will personally be astonished if they don't go for it big time.

Let's not forget that Maersk and many other shipping companies also have to answer to their shareholders. Maersk have never convinced me with their arguments on why scrubbers are such a bad option and low sulphur fuel is the best choice post 2020. I hope they have better luck convincing their shareholders that adding several billion dollars onto their annual fuel bill is the best strategy for the future of the business.

As a result of the last RNS some people have sold out expecting a long delay, some probably hoping to buy back in cheaper, that may not be the case. Just over 3 weeks ago Mike Kirk said he was very confident that the trial would begin by the end of the year, immediately after the contracts had been signed. That has not been possible for whatever reason, but we have now been told that it will be early in this calendar year. I can't see Mike's confident tone being so off the mark that we have to wait until March before contracts are finally signed and RNS'd. I would personally rather hold and wait than wake up every morning and hope there ISN'T a flashing red dot. That could easily happen and some people might end up buying back in at a higher price than they sold at. That's their gamble, it's their choice, I don't think it's worth the risk. Tomorrow is early in calendar year 2018, so is Thursday and the day after that too. Do ya feel lucky, punk?
