The latest Investing Matters Podcast with Jean Roche, Co-Manager of Schroder UK Mid Cap Investment Trust has just been released. Listen here.
Not a bloodbath but effing annoying that small early investors take a smack in the face from a fund raise at huge discount! I reluctantly averaged down as the technology looks promising.
Any more management fund raising stunts and I am out.
Soon? Any thoughts?
And some of us trade the dips and peaks.
Very good news imo.

I added today and while I recognise this is a risky punt for geo political reasons there is a counter argument.
Saudi Arabia was invited to join the BRICS in Jan 24 and this group is looking at options to trade using a gold or commodity backed currency.
For Saudi Arabia joining the BRICS group and having a gold resource on either side of the Red Sea must be an attractive proposition?

There is a flaw in your hypothesis.
The major mining players are sat like vultures waiting for the collapse of the sp....when an opportunistic Hedge Fund Hawk swoops in buys up 40% of SOLG for 20p a share.
The large vultures suddenly realise they have lost 40% of their "kill".
Never trust politicians! They are mostly incompetent, lazy and/or corrupt but the fact that so many countries depend on Russia for Uranium will help swing the decision. There is also the chance that the Vanadium might help as it is being developed as a battery material in Redux Flow Cells? Fortune favours the brave, should I buy more today?
Iron ore demand - steel making in China may be driven over the next few years by external demand.
Up until now all of their steel has gone into railways, ports, bridges, roads in China.
The Belt and Road initiative may drive some demand from countries now in the BRICs?
I think ADT1 is under valued.
Goldman Sachs sniffing around.
Some geo political risk in the Balkans.
Long term hold imo.
Reassuring but does not explain the selling/shorting and share price? Does he know who has been selling and why? Tempted to buy back in but will wait for an upward trend line.
A JV will be great for the sp but personally I would prefer a bid from the likes of BHP and take their shares in lieu of cash.
Maybe the JV first and a bid next year?
Maybe, but these desperate attempts to short SOLG only persuade me to hold.
Very good grades and close to the surface.
Back to 10p a share this morning?

Why BHP might still want a stake in SOLG.
I read the RNS, noted the sp is at a low, read a few posts below and thought the company worth a punt so placed a modest order with HL.
If we are on the cusp of a commodities super cycle then rare earth miners might benefit from the wave of buying.
Vultures.....No doubt that tin is hot in 2024 but it will take north of $100 mn to get the mine into production?
So a vulture fund watches the management and investors throwing cash into the mine hoping they will run out of finance in 2025 then steps in and buys the company for a discount?
Nope! Because this mine is in the horn of Africa.
Cautiously invested here because the MRE and grades look very good but we are still 2 yrs away from production. Much can change in Africa in 2 years.
DYOR, review the RNS, take a look at the financials, cash burn, cash runway etc.

Probably behind a paywall but 44% of TRR is held by institutional investors.
Ergo, professionals like Rick Rule have done due diligence and feel TRR is worth investing in.
