Rich countries consume more and buy from poor countries that produce. It's really that simple. Every country that supplies to a rich country would have a trade deficit.

Imagine for example that Mexico sold avocados to the US, for each avocado they get $1. Now, Mexico is unlikely to use that $1 to buy a loaf of bread from the US for $1, it will use that $1 to buy either 3 loaves of bread from a country that is even poorer than Mexico or buy flour cheaper than then can produce. It really is not rocket science.

As for buying America cars, well, let's just face facts, streets around the world cannot accommodate those yank tanks, let alone the fuel consumption. Also, why would you buy a car with 1970's engine tech? That was rubbish in the first place!
