If a multimillionaire has to pay another £100k per year, it's a few less dinners out, if the normal working class, yes you and me included, have to pay another £30k, that is an absolute financial disaster to many of us. So, don't feel bad for the super rich, they barely acknowledge your very existence.

To bapa44, depends what your roof is made of and state of repair, second, if you need to change in it five years time, all the panels need to be removed and probably scrapped, because of removal damage.

Better off spending the money with a new roof and better insulation to prevent heat loss and thermal efficiency...imo.

Was looking into it, but using a car with V2L ability, that way full battery capacity at @70kw/h, should be enough to keep the house running. A heat pump runs about 7-11kw/h, so in winter that 20kwh battery storage will last 2 hours...

Also, our electric bills run @£3.5+k per year and solar will run about £65k that will not meet our winter usage needs. So decided not to bother.

Good investment, only if the cost can be recouped before needing replacing and the power gained is what you need or more, so at least the extra can be 'resold' to the grid...
