US retailers reporting lower earnings, Nordstrom and GAP stocks have tanked, I would not be surprised if UK retailers SP tanks in the coming weeks, people are just not spending and if they are, they already did out of fear of price rises

I don't think people realise the pent up demand for restriction free travel, even within the business sector. My wife who is head of a global team has to and wants to have face to face meetings with the teams, as do they and I don't think it is just her company. Everyone gets more from a live meeting, more so than virtual meetings.

This does not work either, Germany has never lifted mask wearing indoors, on public transport or larger gatherings, Switzerland, same also strict Covid pass into restaurants, gyms etc since August has not stop the up-tick of the virus, but governments will pander and close their eyes to the fact that this is a slow runaway freight train that must come to a stop on it's own.
I say this as I live it daily in these two countries.

Not joining now, already in. But the US market is tied to pensions, so they need the market to keep rising, even during a pullback.

Crawshaw, I had TSLA but got out about a month before the drop in Jan/Feb, now have APPL, Ford and and looking a few others to take my money to. I was holding 1200 of AMC, took a small profit and closed, then the buggers went up 600%!!

I agree, I bought in Feb, kept dumping money in, then all tanked in July and kept tanking. I was in for the long haul, as seemed better than banks, maybe not so much now methinks!

Start dumping LSE stock, move over to the US markets, if you are long term. most are making 15-18% increase per year. I can live with that. So far this year I lost 60k in the UK market, made 38k in the US market within 6 weeks! So I'm heading back there, would rather take my chances with sharks then a swamp.

PP, I hope so, not for stocks, but for everyone's sanity. This has been on the news, media and any info site for longer than it needed to be. People have become numb to the news (read, BS).

Basically, the UK financial district is in the darkages compared to the US, they are not as tech savvy, don't value innovation or insight, these do not hold a $/£ value to them. The US comes at it from a different angle, they have seen what loss making companies end up becoming (Amazon, Tesla, Apple).
RI will pay for that as the personal losses are far too great for some to bear the wait. I think if you invest in most UK companies, you are in for a hiding, there are few outliers that do really well, but the US is where growth is. The whole world flocks to the US to invest, there is a reason.

danl, you cannot compare the US markets to the UK or EU markets, for example, look at Rivian, valued at just under $90billion, right behind VW and Toyota, yet they have yet to make a single vehicle and not likely to sell more than 1200 units by the end of the year, yet Toyota and VW will sell millions..
