Candidbloke - This is not a BT specific problem. Before the working from home mandate of 2020, there were damning studies into the inefficiencies of working from home, the impact on productivity and mental health. Then this was discarded as everyone hailed this new way of working as the way forward. Well, now we see an increase in people, especially young people, on sickness benefits and unemployed!
Why? because like the pre-2020 studies found, there are health benefits to human interaction and isolation is known to do the opposite. Isolation, can in fact, lead to psychosis. When all those race campaigns kicked off, in my view it was the start of a mass psychosis where people had become entrenched in their own thinking, believing they were the modern William Wilberforce. The sanctimonious statements coming from the likes of Ashley Banjo and Gary Lineker, who said they "will always stand up for the oppressed." They truly believed slavery had returned and they were the ones to get us out of it.
In reality, they were on the brink of going mad, like so many millions more.
Anxiety and panic disorders shot through the roof, as did alcohol and domestic problems.
Many of those supporting home working do so having reaped the rewards of office-based interactions.
I speak to countless people who met their husbands and wives in the office, yet talk of how brilliant home working is.
A conscious denial of the environment they benefitted from for young people.
An ignorance, perhaps a selfishness!
Yet, those young people, hooked on smart phones and social media, have even deceived themselves.
They have not lived in the freedom of years gone by. They think apps and social media are the world.
Their dopamine flooded brains are incapable of objective critique, so they don't make the link between their sad disposition and the lifestyle they continue to support.
Consequently global pharma has come along to the aid of such young people, who don't have a wide enough circle of people who can show them the error of their ways. They get diagnosed with very subjective conditions such as Anxiety, panic, ADHD, autism, chronic fatigue etc, put on whacky SSRI meds, which then produce all kinds of crazy side effects, which serve to convince them of the ailment they probably would never had if they'd lived a balanced life with proper social interaction.
The Labour rights bill is an absolute disaster.
It enables people to work from home and gives them full rights from day 1.
This means people will be encouraged down the path to mental health oblivion and a depressing, unfulfilled life with nobody challenging it.
That is my summary of the current economic productivity problem in this country.
I was diagnosed with a panic disorder and had what used to be considered a breakdown in 2020.
I now passionately believe Exposure Response Therapy, not medication, is the only way to get people back on their feet and into work.
