We had Volvo back in 2001 ;-)

I think SEE subscribe to the Herb Kelleher business philosophy: Herb mentions that business schools have looked scornfully on his premise of ‘people first, customers second and shareholders third.’ “That would make the shareholders unhappy!” would be their obvious reply. The funny thing is, the company’s job is not to make the shareholders happy, its to make them money." Its worked for him and as much as we're all currently 'unhappy', do we trust that SEE will eventually bring the Money... - I haven't posted in a while (been in share price recovery/rehab) so just wanted to (fovio) chip in.. :-)
Just a reminder of how Big the potential is: https://www.firstgroupplc.com/investors/annual-report-2018.aspx Nice to SEE our name in there... just signing off to sleep on a positive. Ha... need the zzzzzzzz
No more than a guess, but the 'second provider' could be Streamax - no more than they were the only others invited to the Bus Saftey Expo that are doing similar things: http://en.streamax.com/index.php?m=Fujian&a=show&id=286
Vison Zero (not project): Launching the Bus Safety Innovation Fund, supporting six bus operators to develop and trial new ideas that will improve safety across London’s bus network. We have provided a £500,000 fund for six bus operators to develop and trial new ideas that will improve safety across London’s bus network. These trials, which will be completed during 2018, cover a range of new technologies such as fatigue and distraction alert systems, as well as new methods of training" "We are also commissioning independent academic research into the extent and nature of fatigue among bus drivers to be published in 2019. The findings from this research are likely to lead to a range of interventions including raising awareness of fatigue risk and the iimportance of driver welfare through new bus driver and bus driving instructor training." Guess it's another 'waiting game'...
Actually your right... I can't find mention of who is the second provider. Last mention of a fatigue detection system was Oct 18 in a tfl's board meeting minutes.. then it doesn't appear to be in their 'Project Zero' plan... hmmm.
It's a bit tricky to hunt down but as far as I can make out it's being fitted as part of the 'Automatic Breaking System'.. the two parts work together to monitor the driver and stop the tram / bus, its being fitted by the "Engineering Support Group".
"LT has procured and commissioned the ‘Seeing Machine Guardian’ driver protection system fleet wide. This system uses proven facial movement technology to monitor driver fatigue and distraction. The system was fully installed across the LT fleet in October 2017." https://tfl.gov.uk/info-for/media/press-releases/2017/december/tfl-response-to-raib-report-into-croydon-tram-tragedy I'm on phone but can pull up all links later, but Guardin is moving forward with Tfl...
Another win.. long may it continue. GLA :-)
How important is it to have an 'Industry Standard' particularly in any language used to describe your offering? With so many names for similar kit, doing similar things, there is little to differentiate 'language wise' (but we know how different some of these could be)... you can see how it makes research quite tricky and why some may be confused.. Just a few of the names the industry is using below (there are quite alot more than this too, alot more)... "We can install our Attention Assist if you like" "What that?" "Well, it's like a Driver Attention Alert" "That uses a camera right?" "Ours doesn't, ours is more of a coffee cup system" "It feeds me coffee, cool.." "Not quite, it detects when it thinks you might be tired by monitoring your driving style, a bit like a Driver Condition Moniter" "Does it know if I am actually drowsy, or is it a guess?" "It's more of a guess, for that level you would need a Driver Drowsiness Detection system which may or may not moniter and detect actual drowsiness.." But it will know if I'm alert though right?" "Like a Driver Alert Controle? Not quite, ours tells you that you may or may not be alert by suggesting that you stop for coffee, but doesn't actually take any action if you don't" "So I can't drive blindfolded then, like in that Netflix Film.."? "I wouldn't recommend it, but if you did you would quickly be advised to drink some coffee, we don't offer a Driver Monitoring System I'm afraid" "Im confused..." "Yep, Those guys in Australia can probably detect that too..!" Attention Assist Active Driving Assistant Driver Condition Monitor Driver Alert Driver Alert Control Driver Attention Alert Driver Readiness Monitoring Driver Monitoring System Driver Assist Driver Drowsiness Detection Anti-sleep Pilot Etc...
I feel some insperatonal quotes from Warren Buffett may be needed: the fundamentals here haven't changed imo. “I will tell you how to become rich. Close the doors. Be fearful when others are greedy. Be greedy when others are fearful.” "Much success can be attributed to inactivity. Most investors cannot resist the temptation to constantly buy and sell.” “Unless you can watch your stock holding decline by 50% without becoming panic stricken, you should not be in the stock market.” My favourite Buffet quote: “Games are won by players who focus on the playing field – not by those whose eyes are glued to the scoreboard.” And from Phillip Fisher: “The stock market is filled with individuals who know the price of everything, but the value of nothing.”
JABILs' EyeSight at CES.. (Just keeping an EYE on the competition). Interesting sales pitch... https://www.jabil.com/solutions/by-industry/consumer/automotive-electronics-components/advanced-driver-assistance-monitoring-systems.html
Is it a little concerning as the sector hots up, as it seems to me at least there is quite a lot of competition out there now (and DMS isn't even the agreed acrynom for all this similar tech). Most now say they 'can see through sunglasses' a few are offering the realtime monitoring and alot are intergrated with other telematics and sensors... What patents and IP do we have that distinguishes us from others and are SEE in a position to defend their IP... I honestly can't see any discernable difference in Datiks' The Magic Eye and SEEs' Guardien.
Magic eye developed by by Datik, apparently... http://www.irizar.com/en/irizar/valores-de-un-irizar/la-seguridad-de-los-pasajeros/sistemas-de-seguridad-activa/
I don't recognise it as a Fovio unit or anything SM has. There are close-up's on Pinterest of just the camera unit, it looks fairly generic and non-specific to me. Who knows what software/chips they are running though. As a concept car SEAT/ Volkswagen could yet be working with anyone or entirely in house.. It does reaffirm that eye tracking is soon to be a standard across the industry though at least that's a positive. The question remains for me 'how much of that marker has/can/will SM catch'...
SEAT doing some interesting things... "I ask Ilijevic which of all the safety features will save the most lives. The eye tracker, he answers confidently, pointing to the small cameras on the dashboard." https://www.driving.co.uk/news/features/nanny-seat-can-cristobal-concept-really-cut-road-deaths-40-percent/amp/
Ahh of cause data mis-entry... makes sense. Ta
Several very large trades reversed yesterday and looks like a similar thing happening today... I'm a bit confused as the reasoning, any insights? Is it as simple as someone changing their mind? Or is would we be able to tell if it's price adjusted I.e. they were offered a better price but the trade still happens? Just wondering...
Latest edition of the Hansen report sums up where we are currently.. nothing new in it, but a nice reminder of why we're all here. http://www.hansenreport.com Direct Download: https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.seeingmachines.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/Hansen-Report-October-2018.pdf&ved=2ahUKEwinstDHysfeAhUsqYsKHapHAFMQFjAEegQIAhAB&usg=AOvVaw0YTwReIJ-6NKQOuTd5Hs1R
I'm still taking solace in the quote "the company making the most progress is always the one making the least noise" let's hope Colin Barnden is correct in that assessment. With the lowest volume we've seen in quite a while im sure there must be many watching and waiting for that magic entry point and turn on some sort of news. Either that or we've all lost the plot...
