The amendment needs 50% support in both the lower house and then the senate. If it gets it it becomes law. Then I'm sure the SP will tank and BKY would be left with a compensation claim (also if the CSN doesn't ratify its final report) and breach of constitution claim, which the government would doubtless fight and appeal forever regardless of merits and probably not pay anyway if it lost. Not a nice thought. There's a vague plan B for rare earths but it won't save the SP.

Interestingly the SP isn't faring too badly atm. Might that reflect the substantial efforts going on to throw the amendment out? It's so wrong in so many ways.

I don't know what he thinks personally, but I think it would be extremely difficult for CSN not to report and approve now, given process and the history of favourable reports to date. That said I believe there's still a CSN director appointed by podemos who is quite literally a placard waving anti-Salamanca mine activist, despite this massive conflict of interest. I don't know how it'll pan out.

Seems to me you can't have the industry becoming more confident at the same time as acute extreme difficulty possibly becoming chronic.

He never used to be like this but has gone to ground using pessimistic language and needs digging out. Compare his comment in the letter to the investor group about the upstream sector having suffered extremely acute difficulty in 2020 which is "possibly becoming chronic", with SQZ's comment last month "We believe 2021 will bring new opportunities to grow through acquisition against a more confident industry backdrop"

Salamanca's population is dropping by 1000 people a year. And Retortillo had only 186 early last year, and that number's dropping too.

I'm sure the local planning authorities and central government will be very keen to grant planning permission and fasttrack both Saltend and Coventry. First, there's the UK (and global) electrification and environmental policy agenda, second the "levelling up" of the UK Midlands/North, and third the specific Brexit driven requirement for the UK to build a number of gigafactories by 2026 producing EV batteries for EV manufacture, to complete a supply chain and avoid big tariffs under the Brexit deal.

PRE are positioned very nicely to benefit. imo

And the BBC are reporting that a planning application's gone in for a gigafactory at Coventry airport to make EV batteries. They'll need lots of rare earth oxides...

The chancellor seems super keen on fintech. Reviewing regulations and listing rules to encourage fintech firms to set up in UK. All part of the post Brexit strategy and to fill the gap as the City loses some European business.
Bodes well for AUGM. I also wonder if they'll widen their objects to include seed finance particularly if they can participate in the fintech growth fund, if that sees the light of day. Reports are due to be published soon.

I got the letter too. Arrived yesterday. My 1m shares already voted by phone Monday via HL ISA. I've requested and await HL's written confirmation.
