Since holiday destinations attract individuals, and groups, from many different countries, and with Social distancing not happening in the resorts, it just wont, the resorts will become a petri dish for multiplying the spread of Covid and variants. The Airlines are looking to protect their business, but it wont be them facing press criticism, if the holiday season results in a big increase in infections.
My personal view is that the 21st June should have been maintained as Freedom Day, but I understand why the Government are taking a cautious approach. Whatever Boris does he gets criticism, the press have been relentless at harshly punishing this Government for the slightest missteps. How can the Government allow free travel when they wont even fully lift the UK restrictions?
I notice today's rises, on the back of a rumour that the UK Government will allow travel for the fully vaccinated, I don't see it myself. Probably more market gaming.

The investment world is in a strange place, where the story replaces fundamentals; Don't get me wrong BT is undervalued, but the negative narrative is being replaced. BT's rise is showing signs of self fuelling, much like it's fall seemed driven by gravity, with the floor rapidly approaching below. Enjoy the ride, especially if it becomes a trend.

Casapinos I agree with your theory about Drahi's share ownership, as there clearly hasn't been any evidence showing significant purchases, apart from the 7th June. Just to correct you on one thing though, it's OFCOM, not OFGEM, that regulates BT.

Corporate bond interest rates tend to fixed at issuance, and don't change up to maturity. Index linked Gilts, and similar, are affected by the current interest/inflation rates, but that's different. If VOD needed to take on new debt, that may be higher, but pre-existing bonds are unaffected.

A general uplift in the market would be enough to decisively push BT over the line.

I haven't got any plans to sell any of my stocks, BT , Vodafone, or Lloyds. I might even hold onto them forever and just leave them for my kids, but that would depend on the price and individual company fundamentals. I used to be a fan of Barclays, but it put me off when they pulled out of South Africa, I haven't revisited Barclays since.

I have to say, I'm pleasantly surprised. I thought the G7 talk of a Brexit trade war would send UK stocks lower today, it just confirms you can't assume anything market related anymore. Black is white, left is right, up is down, and vice versa.

If Boris extends the restrictions to mid July, then that would be a double whammy.

I expect the FTSE and UK focused stocks to drop tomorrow. I hope I'm wrong, but the market seems to react badly to any form of Brhetoric, and it's been shovelled with vigour this weekend.

Disappointing that BT didn't break through £2, but up over 8% for the week so no complaints from me. The 6 month chart makes for happy viewing.
