"Once the distraction of the UK government's total failure and corruption on Covid is out of the way, we will clearly see that Brexit was a massive own goal. How's that trade deal with the USA going or the 350M a week Brexit bonus for the NHS?"
Doug, I listed a couple of advantages, but the biggest advantage I didn't mention, is the advantage of not being part of the failing project known as the EU.
What will drive the failure of the EU?
The monetary union, using the Euro currency, in the absence of a Debt union will keep hammering some and giving others the advantage; Germany gains a massive Export advantage from the Euro, since the currency is held down by the likes of Greece and Italy, while the Med countries will eventually buckle under a debt pile, seemingly incapable of attracting outside investment.
The French just hate everyone who produces cheaper products, and sells into their market. The French feel entitled and either strike, or form mobs when things don't go their way. Some examples of the French solidarity with their EU partners:
"‘These Spanish imports prevent us from selling our French products,’ Amalric told Decanter.com.
‘Our tanks are full, prices are falling and wine merchants are asking us to lower prices. This is unacceptable,’ she said.
In parallel, further south in Narbonne, militant winemaker group CAV has claimed responsibility for 10 winegrowers dumping nearly 25,000 litres of Spanish wine from another lorry in a shopping centre car park."

"French farmers have stepped up their violent attacks on trucks hauling imported livestock in a protest that has divided France's Government and renewed tensions with Britain."

I've got nothing against the French people, and have worked with some really good ones, but once they get a Bee in their Bonnet they go a bit mental. The articles, I've posted above, are from many years of EU membership, but it makes the point. Wait until things take a turn in France, maybe as part of a Global recession, it will be hilarious to watch from here, even if things are also bad in the UK.
The EU has so many issues straining the fabric, the only question is will it eventually pop a few buttons, or tear the seam revealing it isn't wearing underpants and exposing its rrse?
