In the USA, they innovate, the U.K. regulate and the Chinese replicate. This simple strategy has been explained to the Chancellor of the Exchequer I have on good authority, by the large US banks on their visits to the Exchequer.
Seeing as the London Market has been in decline for a number of years, not really breaking out from 8000, what is the solution I hear you say. It’s not another accountancy standard, that’s for sure, the problem is deep rotted, it requires new thinking, and definitely no more quangos.
Yes, regulation is important, but the rise of HR and compliance have gone on unchecked, they stifle entrepreneurs and leadership, and I know people hate the talk of politics, but until someone is brave enough to dismantle the status quo of “the system” to something more business friendly then I fear investors are going to be unimpressed.
Happy New year to holders, wouldn’t it be lovely if we were sold the dream of future ambition and growth by some well respected and proven leaders that we could trust to deliver.
Something as always to think about !
