You are of course correct that politics are such a mandate subject. You quote that the talk is not relevant to Lgen, with a stable and competent government I would agree.

Why do we chat, well maybe we feel that the government and their actions is related to the share price. If you see today Starmer has been doing the rounds talking up AI and wants the U.K. to be a leader. I suggest he and investors read the book Supremacy, the US have the whole sector tied up via major investment, and have done so for the last 10 years !

So, surely when’s one Prime Minister is that far behind the curve, maybe investors might sell the London Market, which will of course be bad for Legal and Generals share price.

We are trying to be positive but we must be given something to work with !

I’m not so sure about retail based AI, why ? Well 2 things I’ve seen the cost of implementing the self checkouts, retailers are losing faith, why they break down, still need a supervisor to oversee, and like most things techie, software updates, computer says no are really all a hit on the bottom line, as well as the theft side.

For anyone who is fortunate enough to own a new super car, the cost escalations are not to pay for the mechanical side of the product, the cost increase is the never ending cost of software and the security side of software, which the average person doesn’t want or understand.

AI in my view is overhyped, yes it has a benefit, but the total reliance on it being a game changer is untested and investors need to be wary of anything tech in my view.

Strictly, the house builders are all going to struggle under Labour. As you know they buy land in advance with a perceived plan for maximum capacity. It will be interesting to see if they buckle and succumb to low margin partnership deals wholesale, or they drag their heels .

As you are aware Barratt are running at 50% capacity before they acquired/merged with Redrow. I dare say Angela in between her shifts at Tesco has a plan, we shall see.

Why, because they changed the narrative, with a sweep of the hand. They perceive that they issue instructions and all will happen. the answer you don’t, you wind the business down and try to protect it, until these people move on.

As Angela says, she is on a mission, that mission is probably making house builders insolvent !

You can write as many essays as you like, but we keep coming back to the same conclusion the Labour front bench have no business experience amongst themselves, now surely that raises alarm bells, are we as a nation of entrepreneurs and small business owners supposed to listen to this nonsense, or do we call it out for what it is.

As Sedgwick keeps banging on about on CNBC, where do you put your money. There are of course counter arguments against any investment. Maybe energy might be a good sector with US focus, what with Trump relaxing oil drilling.

One thing is for sure UK bond prices are up this morning, what will Rachel from accounts do, probably when in Davos trying to large it with the money men, they will actually tell her, to go and make the tea and leave the money matters to people who know what they are doing.

Lgen is off this morning on the spike on bond yields, hardly surprising the writing was on the wall. As for talk of always being invested, sure, yes great, when there is a stable government and the markets have confidence in them, which is not happening at present.

As for always being exposed to the market, that view to be fair is probably pushed out by underachieving fund managers, and there are quite a few even in a one way tech trade market

Hello, yes can’t argue with any of the statements. My point is the past is the past, the PE’s are excessive and the companies need to grow into their valuations. That view isn’t just from Goldman’s, it comes from a few different independent sources as well.

The tech trade will come off, it’s just a question of when, then expect the passive funds to experience some pain.

There is a view that the American market is overvalued and that company earnings need to catch up and grow into their valuations particularly on the growth stocks.

So, Goldman’s have picked up on it and made their call. Why have they done that, well it’s come too far too quickly. I think personally Goldman’s are a sharp outfit,out of most of the US investment banks, I rate them just behind JPM.

So, I’m betting that the passive funds with American exposure won’t have a great year. As for Lgen I would like them to be bought out, why, well even though we invest for the dividend and hopefully some growth, you just get the feeling that either the politicians or the business environment that they create is going to suffer going forward, by some form of negative action.

So, with that in mind, good luck to investors with their bets for 2025.

Great return that it is, the logical thinking is these global trackers/Passive funds, etc are not sustainable at those returns. I’ve said it before Goldman’s are saying the annualised return going forward over the next 10 years is 3% for the S and P. Yearly range -1to 7%. Guidance.

The US is about 60/65% of the global market, why would a rational investor buy companies/shares where the P/E s are in their 50’s or higher, it’s not sustainable mathematically. All well and good getting in years ago before the escalation in share prices,but what’s the draw for the next man.

If investors want some other advice watch the American side of CNBC your see the pundits start to talk the high valuations down, especially tech and then wait for the avalanche.

Don’t forget the S and P had a shocker what 2/3 years ago.

Hello Strike, both Dimon and Solomon’s, Goldman’s CEO are raising the flag. Regardless of the exact timing of events, there are serious headwinds. Saying the share price is off 25% and seems oversold, is quite frankly based on nothing.

If inflation ticks up then interest rates will have to rise, that is a possibility. The object of chat forums is to access different views, my view the future 2025 is not rosy, and probably flat at best.

Having been in business and construction, building houses, the elephant in the room is also the credit markets which drive gdp. Jamie Dimon has been stated as saying that a hurricane is coming, that means that bankers pull in loans don’t lend money, it is catastrophic.

Add to this the disaster of Starmer, not priced into the balance sheet yet, you are gambling my friend. The coming updates in January will not be a picture of 4 years of Labour.

Reeves predicts virtually no growth going forward, that’s without the bond markets having a wobble, which seem quite likely, just be aware all is not rosy and remember the crashes.
