This, on balance, is probably ok news. Clearly there is something afoot: Investec wont have taken on the brokership unless they felt (a) there is a big underwriting/place fee attached (b) they see future opportunities for transaction fees may be including takeover (c) Hur has passed the sniff test.
Is it just a share consolidation and placing with mega dilution? The only reason I can see that that flies is if its pretty much fully underwritten and the institutions sign up. More over , there has to be some carrot in there, so Maris has to pull some good news out of the bag re. forward plan and revised reserves.

3 monthly liftings of 12k at current POO actually gets you the current market cap. It is f++++++++ staggering that the Board isnt in the market buying shares

It is utterly staggering that this Board of Directors has managed to sink this business, despite the fact that it is throwing off cash, has tax credits, producing field, and decent acreage. There has been no mea culpa from any of the directors and the chairman has been completely absent bar the exit of Trice. Mean time Maris burger has been in post since Sept/Oct, plenty of time to formulate a coherent strategy and here we are with sp on the floor, only the vaguest of indicators from him bar the blood-curdling warning that it may be game over. Is he as useless as Trice?

Consolidation a la Saga....would be a step in right direction. Dilution seems unnecessary unless the Board are utterly useless at negotiation...

Would love to agree with you, but I fear at best a lukewarm update so peppered with caveats (to protect this most useless of boards) that the result is a further haemorrhaging of support. Maris has his work cut out to convince me that he has a plan ; the board is terrible, and overpaid for the value destruction they have overseen

Fully expect there will be another fund raising planned for end of Q1, as the delays continue.

Anyone 's guess is absolutely right:

1. Anyone's guess what the Board's strategy is
2. Anyone's guess whether they really know what they are doing as they seem to be like rabbits in front of possible litigious headlights
3. Anyone's guess whom they consider they represent: themselves? bondholders? shareholders? potential takeover suitors?
4. Anyone's guess why despite the mumblings of positiveness that not one of them has actually bought any shares - hard to believe
5. Anyone's guess what Maris's game is here: rebuild; merger...
6. Anyone's guess what the Technical Report will say
7. Anyone's guess whether this is worth zero or infinity...

why offer £200m, when they can get the lot for much less.....

good point....hedged POO makes them even more damn attractive to a purchaser. I will ring up Natwest and ask to extend overdraft to £120m, knowing that I can pay down the lot w/i 2 years and be left with a producing asset

Quite a lot as it happens in terms of analysing and investing in them. have a look at the prices paid for O&G stocks recently sunshine vs what the assets were worth. Amerisur would be a good one to start with...Geopark bought it for a total song after millions spent building a pipeline by Amerisur shareholders and prolific acreage in Colombia etc...
