Let's hope he is up to the job. Things are not made any easier for him by a board that is deeply implicated in the clusterf+++ that preceded his arrival. It all hangs on (1) CPR and (2) ability to negotiate sensible terms with bondholders w/o resorting to a scorched earth deal that destroys equity holders....given the cashflows and POO, even an 18yr old with a business studies degree from a further education college could see the value in HUR.

Well said but actually I disagree about the Board's failure to support the company. Their role is to
1. lead the strategy and present proper challenge to the management -failed that test under Trice and after with the panicked RNS
2. To represent the interests of shareholders and feed that back into board discussions - no evidence of that either
3. Support the management team - I think Maris is being left to shoulder things solo -the fact that not one of them has bought shares in a company they run and purports to have great prospects, will not have gone unnoticed with either the bondholders or the large equity owners.

Not every CEO has utterly hopeless board of directors. As for share price support from the Board, you have to go back to Sept for c5k each spent supporting the incoming CEO. Truly pathetic.....the Board has proved utterly incompetent in the way they have conducted themselves during and after the demise of Trice.

Yup I read that too....the key point is that whatever the timetable H thinks it is he has no control, it is the Ethiopian government that is in charge of the infrastructure. its not like getting Kier or Costain involved and penalty clauses for late delivery....I want this to succeed as much as anyone to make some cash after backing him on and off for last 4 years. But it is utterly naive to assume that the mine will be up and running on H's timetable.

Then the big question arises...who will run the show and get the mine built and when? And does this become a serious investable proposition ? 1. Raising funding: getting on for 4 years and counting (notwithstanding the difficulties of doing biz Africa) which may or may not land this Q. Personally I doubt we see anything like white smoke before June at earliest...but lets say he raises fund and it is where it should be and they can access it and there arent conditions.......then

2. He still needs to build a working mine and mine something: .....how long will that take?

that The Greek does not meet the March indicative deadline, and he reaches for his list of excuses again which kicks it all the way down the road for another 3 months if we're lucky by which time US equity markets may well have slammed into reverse on back of inflation fears. Irony of this being of course that the best placed sector to benefit from inflation is commodities and natural resources.

A takeover and at what price pray tell. my view is the CPR will be marginally positive, given the reduction by 90% by the Board's last utterly disastrous foray into updating the market...cant see them suddenly turn round and say:"Erm, now look here chaps, we got the last CPR totally wrong. Things are so so much better" If that is the case then as a group the Board should be forced before the FCA

Well put - The Greek is utterly incorrigible.....I see another bloody share placing and a plethora of excuses as to why nothing has been signed or moved forward. This should be the easy part getting the cash in a world awash with the bloody stuff but he seems singularly ill-equipped to close any meaningful deal which is why he panicked into handing Phillip a big chunk of teh company at 0.6p because his reputation is so poor he could raise cash anywhere else.

Maris et al have been lucky with POO, but they have no control over it. Nor do they have control over the bondholders, the CPR, Crystal Amber, and water cut........it's an utter shambles

Totally agree although there isnt one huge elephant but a heard of them: CPR findings (was previous one a total kitchen sinking, who knows); a supine, useless Board who clearly dont want to back the co. with their own cash -so gap between rhetoric and reality ; lack of clarity over strategy (CEO has now been there a while and we still have no bloody idea); attitude of bondholders ; possibility that the Board screws us all with a hugely dilutive bond for equity swap;

One more leg up for the US market once stimulus deal done and then I see trouble ahead aplenty. My bet is that we see a market crack in April. So my very real concern is that Harry Angostura bitters doesn't seal the financing deal before the markets in the US finally crack. H's track record does not inspire any confidence, so this could quite easily slip away from us all again. Solgold may have lost its CEO but at least it has lots of optionality and look at how that has performed in recent weeks.

Not old enough to know Sonny & Cher but this seems to sum up the current situation. H really needs to get a move on; if the US market cracks, then any 'on the verge' financing is likely to disappear quicker than a toupee in a hurricane
