RE: Guident Update5 May 2022 08:43
Ok a bit late now but.... here is the post I was ready with. My daughter has been unwell so had to take time out from the BB. I think today's announcement means the contract is now completed. Note the appearance of Perrone too.
This text is lifted directly from the JTA tender website:
“P-22-009 Program Mgmt for JTA LOGT Prgm -NOITA -Guident Corporation.pdf”
“Notice of Intent to Award (NOITA) - Guident Corporation Apr 21st 2022, 3:52 PM EDT”
The following letter was also sent to Guident on 15th March.
Dear Mr. Tylim;
Please be advised that on Monday, March 14, 2022 the Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) Procurement Review Committee approved the Evaluation Committee’s recommendation for JTA Proposal No. P-22-010 entitled “JTA Test Environment”. Alphabetical Ranked Shortlist:
1. Beep, Inc.
2. Perrone Robotics, Inc.
3. Guident Corporation
4. Quanta Technology, LLC
It is the intent of the JTA to negotiate a contract with all four (4) of the above highest ranked firms.
[etc...]
There has been no announcement from Tekcapital yet but I believe this news will be positively received by the market as and when formal contracts have been confirmed. (!!) This is additional BACKGROUND for the tender docs:
JTA has undertaken several studies to determine the appropriate technology replacement for the
existing Skyway elevated guideway system. On February 23, 2017, JTA’s Board of Directors
approved the recommendations of the Skyway Modernization Program report and authorized staff
to begin work on the development of the U²C Project https://u2c.jtafla.com/. This project is
expected to be the first major deployment of AV transit shuttles in the US. The project is
anticipated to require 40 to 60 vehicles initially with additional vehicles as the system expands.
To accommodate the AV testing component of the U2C Project, plans for additional AV Testing
Environments are under development so that the JTA can demonstrate, test, and evaluate multiple
vehicles from the AV shuttle industry.
AV Pilot Test Environment should include the ability to test and demonstrate at multiple
locations. This includes testing on both private test tracks and public right of ways.
The Autonomous Solution Pilot Test Track Environments and the Autonomous Solutions that will
be operated on it for testing purposes must follow the guidance set forth by the USDOT for
manufacturers on what their path is to meet each topic outlined. This assessment can be found in
the U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Automated Vehicles Policy, published September
2016)
