So you think its the "market" demanding a dividend cut, if anything the market would prefer a dividend raise, whats happening is the market is responding to rumours from sources they trust, and the rumours will be from....
That said you dont really need to listen to have your ear pinned against the wall to work out that the easy option is to lower or completely cut the dividend, as they have in the past.
What I find frustrating is that a bank from America appears to have advance notice of whats going on before its made public by the company affected.
I think the Prime Minister has talked the talk about throwing money from rooftops and the national roll out of a full UK fibre network has been missed because somebody reminded him that the peasants only need 10mbps
At the end of the day BT needs to continue to do the best with what it has, and stagnate, or continue to invest and expand, ****es me off that this should have started at least 10 years ago, however the debt situation may have finished the company by now if it had. I cant see a business case being viable, spend billions to lease lines out to other company's that will earn more than the people that provide it. I think Ofcom have a lot to answer for here, I am starting to think Ofcom needs to start being regulated itself, its to blame along with the cycle of corporate mismanagement and cost cutting.
Heavy with the sarcasm, instead of a pension why don't the state just send a bunch of Chinese Imported flashing LED plastic flowers on the day of your funeral. That's probably what the newborns of today will receive, but only if they have 70 full years of national insurance contributions. 75 my ass.
I feel that is an absolutely ridiculous idea, I feel outraged at the very idea. How would employers make adjustments for a 75 year old with arthritis working in manual labour. Go to work in your adult diaper, with your prostate dragging on the floor, electric wheel chairs cost big money you know. Its ok for the plebs that work in government, they get chauffeur driven the 100 yards they have to go to work and sit in the air conditioned office in their high back leather massage chair, drink a cup of tea for 10 minutes then go home finished for the day.
My memory is not what it was, could well have been where I read it, I sort of just put 2 and 2 together, with the mention of infrastructure in the upcoming Queens speech and reports of recent BT talks. Don't blame me if infrastructure in this instance turns out to be a donkey on a tread mill eco friendly power station solution, (powered by carrots made in China)

I dont know? Maybe? who knows.
Bluepete, I am thinking the Prime Minister mentioning that the Queens speech will amongst other things include news about "Infrastructure" this news coming not long after a personal visit from BT regarding a full fibre network for the UK, I am hopeful but cant see any related news that would corroborate my thoughts.
Why do we need to keep looking back, the company has done all the calculations and is fully aware of its own internal mismanagement and is actively working on a long term solution, you cant change the past but you can learn from it. Lets look to the future for a change.
I am pretty sure the problem started in the early nineties with Ian Vallance handing out huge payouts during the onset of Project Sovereign to staff that could not believe what they was offered to leave, including there full pension being paid to them at around 50, instead of 60 as was the retirement age for them back then.
Avrohm you state
It would seem that Lamtree, Faultsman and myself have serious mental health problems because we all believe the great BT is crap.
Speak for yourself, not for others, I am a firm believer in BT, it has been very good to me, I cant believe your trying to tar me with that. You have no idea what so ever.
In my opinion I suspect there may be a case of the Dunning–Kruger's getting to heavily involved in trying to Troll on a subject that is way outside their remit.
Longish,
"On the assumption AV is not winding us all up or a shorter looking for panic selling among PIs etc"
Do you base any of your investments on this kind of nonsense? ........No, I didn't think so, best not to dwell on it, ignore the noise.
NDN, nice to have suitably qualified member on the forum, my qualifications served me well in my industry, I certainly wouldn't be where I am today without them, that said I wish I had followed the renewable energy path rather than motor industry.
