Fleccys technical stuff is very important, to him, to all those around him, not so much. The know all approach to technical stuff full of meaningless abbreviations mean a lot to him, states he never worked for the company but was employed by them, single handed laying submarine cables thinking of acronyms as he rowed and splashed and heaved as he progressed through the company, he left just before being invited to take the throne at board of directors.
This is all fantastic and that, no relevance what so ever to the SP in any way shape or form, fantastic drivel, from a pie in the sky Openreach engineer that has far to much time on his hands, probably long term sick claiming PTSD after he invested in a cheap suit but still could not become a Manager. Velo is extremely boring and always wrong, but at least Velo ****es in to the wind that comes from BT, Fleccy wants to amaze you with his knowledge of his internal operational prowess, just because you can twist copper wire together don't mean you know a thing about BT share value.
Bluepete, tell me why the share price is poor, then tell me why I should invest more, or lets wait for the rum runner Velo to come on and do the normal top hat and tails tap dance, oh I forget he he disappears on a jet somewhere important and is far to busy always when things don't go to plan.
As for my Milkman, I dont care about him, launched him off as milk is cheaper at Post Office.
Quite a rant Faultsman, but you seem to have misunderstood the cost reduction strategy currently in play.
Fluffy, the only thing I misunderstand is your comment, the current round of kitchen sinking that is in play, is a continuation of the same cost reduction strategy that's been in place since 1991, its nothing new, getting rid of everything you can is going ahead regardless of the fact that the UK does not have a full Fibre Network, the kitchen sinking will not fulfil the building of the network, neither will it magically produce the money required to pay for the completion. I will point it out clearer, why does BT, a wannabee "Tech" company need a pull the wool over your eyes, smoke and mirrors untouchable legally separate company to Openreach who provide and maintain the network need to offload everything Openreach and get them to build a network for other operators to use?. Gas is Gas, Petrol is Petrol, Electric is Electric, Broadband is Broadband, nobody cares about the name of the provider or maintenance company, all they care about is the cost and reliability.
Why dont Openreach don't borrow the money from Sunak before he no doubt gets found out launched, build the Network, test the Network, maintain the Network, properly, once and for all, not just string a bit here and there because its convenient and the end user is wealthy. I will tell you why they dont, because they are understaffed and still running round drying out there 150 year old wet copper cables bodging up the same krap as they have for last 40 years while brassed off towns and villages pay privately to get stuff done and finished, or give up entirely and take the Elon option.
Fluffy, do you feel that the current 20p increase in the share price since it was floated is a good deal? I dont, but the people that value it at that certainly do, do you think the current big wigs at BT that have been bought in to get rid of staff and run riot with bulldozers do either? , no they certainly don't, you can see that reflected in the current share price of this wonderful emerging "Tech" company.
Appears BT do nothing any more. Openreach do all the work, they create the revenue for all the service providers, yet the only company that has to pay for this is BT. BT are being mugged off by Ofcom, Ofcom should insist that BT stops paying Openreach wages, and let them send each other invoices like other company's do. You could operate Openreach like Uber drivers, just get the engineers to submit there invoices when they finished, just like plumbers, electrician, and mercenaries.
The big wig keeps telling us all that BT is to become a "Tech" company, why would a tech company need to provide and maintain a fibre network, why would it need to employ 30000 engineering staff, we all know that apparently its doesn't as Openreach are a legally separate company, some fail to understand that, for BT do go down the "Tech" route and the way its is currently cutting big chunks and bubbles of itself, the real easy way is to completely peel away the big scab on its back called Openreach, and concentrate on the infected festering open wound called the pension, Catch 22, Openreach are BTs biggest earner, would you farm it off to cut your losses, make a quick buck and pour that money in to more footballers wages, or use it as a fresh dressing for the open wound?, is the big wig going to actually do it? , probably will save it as a parting shot before his departure. Trouble is does he think that the remaining BT faulty phone and broadband will be repaired for free after Openreach is farmed out to contract workers. How about sell all the line rental streams as well while your at it.
Tech company my arse. Give Openreach to the Government and get them to pay the staff to build the network properly from the ground up, pay the engineers a decent wage and get a decent job done, simply take the money from Sunaks magic money tree farm. Nobody wants or cares for "Tech" from BT, nobody wants there rental money donated to football, finish what you started, flog the whole lot when your done then you can concentrate on Tech, set up assembly lines in this country and knock that Christmas cracker gift Tech out, should be a good earner.
Give the workers a £1000 for being at home for last twelve month.
Give the engineers that do all the work the same amount, really? I mean that is a INSULT
Sack the workers for as much as thinking about a strike
Sack the rest that question why no pay rise
Sack those that complain when they arrive at work to find the office has been raised and turned in to a car park over the weekend.
No good giving Openreach to pension board, pensioners want payment in cash every month, not free shares in Openreach or credit notes for free caller display.
If you cant complete what you started and let the shareholders down, oh well, if the government or pretty boy footballers wont not pay for it, just bulldoze everything and take the golden handshake, BT same old same old, the next big wig will have a "Tech" company to slice up like a pizza for
lots of people saying the new man at the helm would be the saviour and what a good egg he is, well the share price says otherwise, and diverting the sole purpose of the company in to "Tech" is ridiculous.
My milkman has lost his job, he couldnt sell enough Broadband deals during the week to make ends meet, and so it goes on
SOMEBODY TAKE CHARGE AND FIX THIS COMPANY PLEASE.
You have to laugh? laugh at what, you think its funny, can you explain why, once they become management grade they will more than likely be sent all over the country to fulfil roles they have zero experinence with until they are pushed out for not reaching management targets, probaly what happened to you when you worked there and got the sack for being useless.
Keep blowing that hot air up Velo, and tell him how knowledgeable he is, the more he gets told that the more in depth and longer his posts get. Hot air in = realms of BS out. At least he is consistent and gets in wrong every single time. Bullish, bearish, the next resistance is, and it will be X depending on the result of Y next week as long as 3.14 recurring happens on Monday, he bought a readers digest almanack from august 1971 and got his special calculations from that.
Oh. and its good to see that the current price hasn't lowered a jot since the threat of litigation, oh hang on.......... there must be another reason as it has dropped, a lot, but obviously not a jot to do with litigation, just another 100% random BT anomaly of a negative PR coincidence as usual.
Yeah yeah, sell up and go away, what's morals got to do with anything when it comes to blue chips I know, I know.
I see valid points and relevant points being raised, in a way I could not be bothered to make as presumed rightly it would lead to the same old finger pointing from the boring know all's that round everything up with the oh so original your not a share holder, your a BT hater mantra, and its good to hear. I thought I was alone with my view on this debacle.
Its a sad state of affairs. Litigation or not its been highlighted and will no doubt be fully aired in public in the months ahead, I am personally disappointed. A rip off of the elderly just because they could, very poor show, almost to the point of saying I am ashamed to be a share holder.
I see it as bad news, extremely poor publicity, morally reprehensible, and as news about BT goes, par for the course. You seem dismissive of it and happy days are here again, nothing to worry about its a conspiracy, you know best, do you work in the elderly customer specialist sales tricks department of BT by chance?
Fleccy, have you read the Ofcom Review of the market for standalone
landline telephone services 2017? it found BT overcharged landline customers . Here is a snippet for you
From December 2009 to June 2017, line rental prices rose by between 23% and 47% in real terms. At the same time, the wholesale cost of providing landline services fell by about 27% in real terms.
You like to use the term argument, I am not arguing, you say my post is irrelevant, I must say that to those that spout endless scenarios that have zero to do with the actual topic or any factual substance then you are correct, it is certainly irrelevant.
From what I can gather from this is that Ofcom informed BT, and BT carried on regardless, overcharging the elderly and without a care in the world continued to increase the price, this is about landline rental that many elderly people rely on, elderly as in don't want, don't understand, and cant or don't want to understand the internet or mobile phones. Not sure why all the talk about cheap mobile deals being available as a option, if you don't have access to internet you cant go searching the web for better deals, and BT did not directly contact or inform those people it has affected, instead of lowering or automatically changing there rental to the cheapest low user rates they steamed ahead steadily and increased the price, and have now buried a low price scheme in there website, by buried I mean hidden behind lots of links and click here buttons in the small print so to speak, defeats the object hiding it as the people affected probably don't have internet access anyway. Whatever's happening, just the threat alone has, according to the BTA share news affected the SP by 1.5%. A response of "we strongly deny this" is a standard for BT that never seems to work to there benefit.
LONDON, Jan 17 (Reuters) - British telecoms operator BT
is facing a claim for almost 600 million pounds ($800
million) lodged by a consumer campaign group, which says the
company failed to compensate fixed-line customers, many of them
elderly, for overcharging.
Oh well, just sweep it under the carpet and nobody will notice, as usual.
I see the same self centered, selfish morons with no brains are still only reading half the first sentence of the news headlines and from that go on to deduce that they are a Professor of the subject.
Imbeciles.
Strange how many experts are cropping up to tell people how clever they are, they spend hours researching and collating the interweb for snippets of information and then copy and paste it in a different order and hope that nobody notices this. They then post it on forums that have no connection with anything to do with the topic, and they watch the lies and misinformation get spread round. These people are the same types that purchase medals online, stick them on a jacket, grab a beret, put on inside out, wave a flag and jib in to parades and hold there head high, because they passed their cycling proficiency test they have done their bit for queen and country.
You read it on the internet, it must be true. Well done Captain Toff.
Unclebuck, can you here the managers ok, you know, while they speak to you from their bunkers with their face masks on, have they fitted you out with PPE or just told you to wash your hands and sneeze in to your elbow and sleeves and you will be OK routing round in peoples houses with their dogs jumping all over you ? . Is everyone telling you they are a health worker or key worker so they can get priority ? , it must have been bad enough when a fault occurred before a big football match, when they used to play, but now people are using it to get food and benefits and that, how are you managing in the mental health department, are you managing to stay sane?
Good luck to you all.
