If this was a US bank...24 Jul 2020 01:38
It would arguably be highly investable on current metrics
(Provided Lloyds does not need to issue more shares to raise extra capital).
The issue is this is the UK, with a very different regulatory and governmental attitude
to banks.
Rather than delighting in a highly profitable bank, as the Americans do,
in the UK banks are treated very differently.
And does anyone have doubts that these 100% government backed loans will remain 100%
government backed loans?.
When delinquency rates on these start to soar, will UK banks be accused of Not
doing adequate due diligence and be on the hook for some liability?.
And for anyone who thinks that just cant happen, that sound you hear, is me laughing.
Again in the US that just would not happen. All IMV Only as always, please DYOR etc.
