@MaryBr190,Im pleased to say I opened a stocks and shares Isa in October.Then got so
@MaryBr190,I opened a stocks and shares Isa in October.A month later I’d put 20k in ,so then opened a fund and share account.So yes,transferring 20 k to Isa on 6 April.Mike mentioned a bed and Isa process,but HL don’t offer it.
Hi Mike,
I’m with HL.They told me the only way is to sell 20k worth from my fund and share account,then wait 5 days before I can move it to my Isa ,and then rebuy.However I will phone them tomorrow and utter the words “ bed and Isa process “.I wish I could buy you and @MaryBr190 and @Thomo68 a drink.It’s wonderful to be reminded how many decent people there are out there.
@JG68
Jason all profit in tour Isa is tax free.You and me started the same query yesterday on here.Even though us kids of 68 trade on a daily basis,my understanding now is cgt still only kicks in on profit over 12300k.I don’t have that problem.I went onto the Hmrc website,tapped in figures and was told ...I don’t owe anything.There were not questions about each and every trade,just amount spent to buy and sell.Have a look and let me know what you think.
@Thomo1968, I feel your pain.February last year before I became redundant I had just 2400 Iag shares,...they were worth over 15000...currently that holding is worth 5000. I decided gambling / trading had to be the way forward.You are clearly a good person,and I know that everything will pan out for you.
Happy Sunday
@Thomo1968,thanks for your help and tips,Am I right in assuming you will pay cgt only because you have profits of over 12300 ? (well done you if that’s the case).Even though I buy / sell the same shares within 30 days,my profit is 4K.My understanding now is the 30 day rule re cgt only applies to profit in excess of 12300.
@MikeM14,I trawled through pages on the HMRC website.The calculator requested dates sold and only asked if they were purchased prior to April 92.The calculator told me I still have around 8500 free from tax.I shall merrily carry on trading now.Happy Sunday.
@MikeM14...you have the patience of a Saint.I promise there will be no more questions on this now,as I’m wary that some members might want be banned!Many thanks.
Good luck and happy trading
I’m really sorry,but one last question.When this query started yesterday,someone posted Cgt of 12300 does not apply to buy / sell / buy..within 30 days.However did you say that even if all my profit has been made within the 30 day rule...that I still do not pay tax on it?
