mem, I have for some time, rightly or wrongly, considered the acquisition of late life producing assets, too have become less and less likely with the increased oil price and the number of competitors. There is absolutely NO point too chase producing assets which become more and more marginal with the increasing Oil price, which imo, will eventually decline. The management team are sufficiently astute, it must be assumed they have other options especially with Statoil involved.

Madcrann,difficult prediction!! In any Market, supply and demand dictates price. With the limited shares in issue here, suggest many PI's are LTH's, Institutions, along with Directors, hold a significant majority and are going nowhere. The relatively small number of "Traders" have made good profits, however the free-float of shares they are transacting will imo diminish as the Institutional Investors mop-up. Unless further shares are issued buyers may find it increasingly difficult to buy at a price where they (Traders) can see a quick profit.

thirdman, If you trust and believe the Assistant Governor of the BOE any time now, which co-incidentally will send everyone too drink, in which case excellent for MARS etc. Seriously, imo this stock is worth a further buy at these levels.

londoner7, yes the tangibility of assets can be skewed particularly when examining High tech. company's who may have excellent Business model but little in respect of Fixed assets. As already stated, and it should be well known, H2 is always more income generating. I don't believe a break-up of Marstons is in anyway going to happen. The comment was too merely reassure, if that is necessary, the company has assets well able to cover the current SP, and therefore an investment to hold..

The NAV is relevant to most Share Price's, how many stocks trade above? The vast majority of quoted stocks. The Late Jim Slater used NAV as a major factor in his Buying Strategies. I feel far more comfortable investing in a Company like MARS where the "break-up" value considerably exceeds the Stock-market Valuation, whereas one like WHTB does not.

Suspect those who have taken profits, and good luck to them, may find it difficult getting back in with the Limited number of shares in issue and that Institutions like Schroders are sweeping up.

Sector sentiment. Just look at MAB this morning they are down 10%. It goes in cycles. In a few weeks and IF the glorious Summer happens, Brewers and Hospitality sector will look much different. throughout, somethings many have know for a long time. It remains to be seen what penalties will be enforced. On the face of it and against difficult trading conditions within this sector, these are sound if not good results. Investors should note the SP's current discount against it's NAV. Apart from dividend, the SP is undervalued.
