I am sick of reading that we operate the largest oilfield in Azerbaijan when we cannot get access to it or get the stuff out of the ground in any sustainable quantity.

Get the Bl**dy production up to 2000bbls a day and then go and raise money to grow further.

Sarge, I am no expert. All I can say is that I spent about 7 years drilling holes in the North sea. The well design, completion and any other technical work was completed by various specialists such as geologists, drilling engineers, Mud engineer, Company (client's) requirements et al. I/we simply joined the various bits and pieces together and run them in and out of various holes!!

Yeah, well. As others have mentioned, we don't know exactly what they are doing from that tweet. As Mud says, they are already or are about to pump mud. Mud lines are attached to the equipment laying on the drill pipe which could have been disconnected from the drill string or could be in the process of being connected to the string to enable them to circulate bottoms up.
TBH I don't know whether they would scrape it dry and then circulate the carp up after it has been cleaned or circulate when scraping and bring up the carp throughout the process. Not much help I'm afraid.

Sarge 123 All that pipe has to go back in with the scraper attached and then all the way out again. As I said, its the drill pipe.

Logging--anyone's guess.

Civil works probably has to wait until the rig moves off so the quicker that happens the better.

If we get drilling before the end of Nov it will be a bonus and then the 250m could take another 4 weeks or more to drill--

The 180 should be able to stack three lengths of pipe joined together in the derrick, these are called 'stands' so each time they trip in or out, they don't have to make up every single pipe, they only need to do it once for every 3 bits of pipe therefore the time is significantly less. We used to run in and out (round trip) in one shift to about this depth, but that was then, and this is now.

Yeah, point is it should have been done 2 years ago though instead of using the failed scatter gun approach on well interventions. Silly me had assumed that the geological info, reservoir characteristics etc were better known than they clearly were. Where they are at now, is where they should have been when coming to the market 2 years ago so for newbies it is a good time to join the party. Winging it comes to mind, but after the painful lessons and so far abject failure they are starting to get some professional guidance and ability to make better 'guesses' on what to do next.

Sarge 123, that pipe you talk about on the rns of 25th is drill pipe. The pump would be on the end of it (about 2500m) under ground. I say 2500m because I seem to recal that being the depth that Zen has re-set the pumps, so if c37 has already had that work done then it will have been set deeper than the original depth. The 2500m depth would be manageable by the 80 t rig--I had previously forgotten about the pump depth being less than the prod pipe shoe at 3900 and therefore needing less pipe to reach it.

KB. I would agree, December minimum. Scraping is not a biggie and could be over quick enough but wireline logging makes watching paint dry appear to be an exciting pastime.
I am at least happy that they have got the pump out without incident--albeit rather slow paced.

AJ Half of that would be outstanding. In fact if we ever got to 30p it would be somewhat life changing. Hopefully we will have a string of successes which will put us back in the game and start to attract institutional and that so far never to materialise 'cornerstone' investor. A few decent successes and give AC some deep pockets and very short arms and we may get north of 30p over the next 20 months.

Minus 7 is not the right direction at all.

180t should have sufficient capacity.

If they are using 5" std drill pipe it weighs 19.5lb/Ft. We are drilling 4200m or so which is about 140000 feet. which is 270000 lbs or about 120t. Static Hook load

If they are using a smaller diameter drill pipe such as a 2 7/8 it weighs in at about half that of the 5"

One has to consider the other components in the drill string such as collars etc, also the mud weight and viscosity have a bearing on the hook load at varying depths, i.e. hydrostatic buoyancy.

Motor output HP is just as important, as is the number of reeves of wire between the fast line and the static line. The more reeves, the increased weight capacity but the slower the trip time.

Cuttings from the returns should be shaken out to remove as much mud as poss and then hopefully collected in skips for environmentally responsible disposal. I haven't seen what they do in Azer, so if they just dig and dump it then so be it. If mud is water based then its no so bad, but oil based would be irresponsible.

All we need is for it to come trundling down the road and get set up ffs. Hurry up, getting bored now.

One thing that worries me about the 180 ton rig is it able to drill at 4000 plus meters?--Hmm, well, the motor size, capacity, drag, mud, formation, drill pipe spec, will all have an effect but it is a good point lol. Same applies to the 80t and the scraper, maybe they have got it stuck--it crossed my mind yesterday but I didn't dare post it at the time.

Yeah, we wont see the 260 until next year IMV. C37 is also starting to look ambitious for this side of Christmas unless there is a run of very good luck and an about turn in current efficiency.
C37 does appear to be the well that has already produced at 150bbls a day plus in the past, therefore one has to ask the question of how/why it has now only been producing at 5bbls. Depletion? blockage? collapse?
Don't get me wrong here, I am still positive and excited about the near term future but the clock is ticking and we need to get a wiggle on asap.

Surprised that we haven had a tweet showing the pump and pipe from 37 laying on the deck yet--and where is that 180tonner. Must be this week surely to ....

AJ, I would tend to disagree. There are no pressure requirements for such a test and the tank will be vented and would not be pressure tight (I know it could be closed off) also hydro tests the base integrity due to the weight of the liquid. hydrostatic has far less stored energy than and form of gas/air and is a safer method in that respect so that's my view on it, but all that stuff I was doing 20 years ago so who knows. I don't know whether they would just accept weld tests as meeting the required standard and not do any hydro or air test at all. In azer, they may just fill it with oil and plug any holes as they appear later.
If they use that nearby stream then maybe they could hook up a couple of fish and call it a fish tank.

Mudstud is going to busy fishing over the next few weeks I think so a ready made fish tank would be handy.

That lone welder is getting on with it. I can see some new floor plates going in. Let's hope the bottom corner welds are good uns. I wonder whether they will complete a hydrostatic test on it and where will the water come from or go to afterwards.
