Sort of but the casing is pushed into the open hole, not drilled in.
Cement goes down the casing and is pumped through the guide shoe at the bottom and up the outside of the casing annulus until there is no more cement in the casing, it is left to harden 12-24hrs and then when everyone is a happy doo dah they can drill through theplug at the bottom and the bit of cement that is in the bottom of the hole and drill down with a smaller dia bit with the same drill pipe to the TD point. Alexios on here has the casing details and it shows the smallest casing as the 7", so they will be using a bit of around 8" diameter just now. They will do logging, then run the casing to TD and cement it then perforate the areas where the logs say.--this is also a more or less account of it but hopefully you get the idea.

Nope AJW, it wont be 7" drill pipe. If it is 7", it will be the next casing run. If its is drill pipe it will be about 4" :)

Well done Herts, I wish I were just buying in today, but there's another story. I will apologise in advance if I get a bit negative in posting from time to time. its due to the tardiness and amount of time it has taken to get this far. But, I and others are still here after more than 2 years and for the most of us 70% down on initial buys, most have also averaged down a bit but we stay on the basis that if they can finally get it right then the world of Zen will change for the better.
5p--hope you are right. P.S there is no rig mobilisation. It is built already. he only mobilisation we are looking for is the top drive spinning at 60 rpm with a drill bit attached on the end of it.

Yeah, just messing with you mate. To get this lot to market and to allow for the potential for similar 'problems' from some of the other wells, it will take some sorting out. The quicker that gas can get contained and exported off somewhere the better, and then the oil can be produced. Mobile liquefaction plant and cryogenic tankers is an option, compress the stuff x 600 and it takes a tiny space as a liquid as opposed to being gaseous--I'll just give Paul a call to see whether he has thought of it !!.

Gas is just about nailed on---oil beneath it is what we want.

Top drive runs up and down a single or a pair of separate guides fixed to the mast otherwise it would no be able to turn the drill string. At the moment, I cant see any sign of either, although it doesnt mean to say its not there. But I'm sure if you look at internet pictures of drilling masts with a top drive fitted, you will see the guides and then have a look at the mast on the 260.
I suspect they have to come with the top drive as they are not all the same etc etc, therefore will need to be installed at the same time--this is not something I have ever been involved in as ours was fixed, it was offshore and the mast doesn't get removed etc, but knowing the industry in general, I would guess that the guides will be in a number of sections and will be lifted into place using a rig mounted winch and someone will hang in the derrick or climb up that ladder and fix them in alignment to the structure. It is not in my view a big deal. It should realistically be a couple of days for that. They can be fitting up the hydraulics and electrics for the top drive at the same time. just my view, as I say, not done it.

If folk are so jittery and anxious about the slightest little nuance then it may be better not to invest in a tiddly, piddly oil of or gas company.
If this is supposed to be the biggest onshore gas field the UK has seen and this is just a confirmation of what the 'experts' already know then they would hardly be de-rigging and taking their toys home without even reaching the target. Even if they managed to drop the kitchen sink down the hole they would be fishing it out or cementing it up and sidetracking the sink and taps to have another go at it. Some numpty on UKOG posted ujo rig coming down and suddenly I was a reality and they were all expecting to be travelling down the M1to set up at Horse hill.
If they do just abandon and de-rig then the whole story has been fake. my take anyhow.

it runs up and down a guide, hence comment in last post and one made a hundred years ago on here. I cant tell whether the mast has been constructed and set up for a top drive already or whether they will have to retrofit.
I notice that there were no clues in the video about the transport company or any visible labels or even the reg number of the truck. Yes of course I know drillmec. they make rigs too.

True Zeb. I had hoped that it would be a commonplace standard piece of kit where spares and industry knowledge about the operation and maintenence etc was well known and understood as opposed to a weird and wonderful design exclusive to B Robots. I haven't mentioned my little worry before as it was a bit negative and we dont really know the answer. My subconscious must have directed me to thinking it was coming from Italy though and I had in fact forgotten that we don't know where its coming from, hence my thought's on when it would arrive which of course could be BS if it is coming from elsewhere.. standard kit, millions of spares, excellent..we may get a surprise then!!.
3 trucks did also seem like a lot and I wondered whether some of it was related to mud system parts--you know, little items like a pump, hopper, mixer, shale shakers, etc :) or they could have been mast guides for the top drive to secure it against, plus hoses and a few spare ones for good measure.

Must have been in stock already and it just needed a service and a paint up. Relieved to see it on its way, sooner than I had feared tbh. We may just have something to smile about by 27th July. I.e we have started the job.
