RE: GLEN sups with the Devil.....25 Nov 2024 19:10
The 28th November will be 66th anniversary of Congo Republic day.
Depeches carries a long recital of events since then, concluding with this :
.." The list of Congolese leaders who contributed to the advent of the Conférence nationale of 1991 is a long one, and the respect to which they are entitled is unalterable. But there is
one among them whose humility, tact and discernment made this moment possible and, above all, peaceful. Let us give thanks to César [Ed.: Big Den, for it is he]...and take up the challenge of tolerance dialogue and fraternity..
In this festive period on 28 November 2024, a few weeks before the start of 2025, and the gateway to the Presidential elections of 2026, the Congo will need unity.
So perhaps when the weighty questions arise - such as the restoration of public stability, and a peaceful generational transition - as was the case thirty-three years ago when
the Estates General of the Nation were convened - it's time to put to him [ Ed.: that's Big Den, remember] this essential question: Father of the nation, what direction now? "
This from Jean-Paul Pigasse. Per https://www.babelio.com/auteur/Jean-Paul-Pigasse/219927
.."In 1997, he set up his own press company, Agence d'information d'Afrique centrale (ADIAC), which he currently runs and which is mainly funded by the Congolese state. After setting up a website, he launched a monthly (2002), then a weekly (2006) and a daily news magazine (2007). Jean-Paul Pigasse has also written or co-written a number of books in support of President Denis Sassou-Nguesso..."
Is he calling on his old mate (they're both in their 80's) to step down... or at least address the succession issue ?
And sooner, rather than later...?
