In addition, Ganfeng increased the planned production rate by 43% relative to the previous Feasibility Study published by Bacanora Lithium, with potential Stage 2 production increasing to 50,000 tpa of lithium hydroxide.

· The final appeal challenging the validity of the royalty occurred on 13 January 2023, following a 2021 judgement by the Court of Queen's Bench of Alberta which ruled in the royalty holder's favour on the basis that the challenge was time-barred. Mexico looks to reach deal with firm holding Sonoran lithium concessions

Mexico’s president says he hopes to reach a deal with the company that holds major lithium mining concessions in Sonora.

On Tuesday, Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador was asked if an agreement had been reached with that company, all but certainly the Chinese lithium giant Ganfeng, which holds a number of mining concessions in the Sonoran sierra community of Bacadehuachi.

López Obrador said he hoped to sign a deal turning over those concessions to the Mexican government in an effort to avoid a legal dispute, and that negotiations between the economy secretary and company leadership are ongoing.

HERMOSILO, Sonora.- The state is ready to receive the 87 world ambassadors who will come to Puerto Peñasco on February 2 to learn about the photovoltaic plant that is under construction and other details of the Sonora Sustainable Energy Plan, Governor Alfonso Durazo assured.
