How do we change this situation for the better is the question for the UK, and most of rest of the world for that matter.

From where I am looking Corbyn is the direct counterpart to Liz Truss - both ideologes, that pursue their convictions with total disregard of what the country needs. The UK, are arguably, in a pretty poor spot at the moment, from a social, economic, health, etc aspect. What we need are a government that have the wellbeing of the whole country at heart- and are not just there to further their own advancement. Somehow, with the current setup I doubt that we will get that - regardless of which party forms the next government. The whole system needs a good clear out. Dare I suggest to move the electoral system to proportional representation to turn up the heat?

Sheltie, totally agree on the ISA thought, however this needs a bit of forward planning. A week before end of tax year is cutting it a bit fine, as per the previous poster. However, there would appear to be quite o few of us that have done well bejond expectations - or as expected in the cat's case. 👍 20 grand allowance - or maybe 2x, if you involve the wife/ partners allocation, still does potentially not go very far and next year's allowance of 3k CGT earnings might not even make a dent. In short, we will get screwed!

Taverham, I will do exactly that, sell some to maximise this years CGT allowance, however buy RR BACK in the wife's account - still not ISA regrettably, as she is already maxed out on RR.

Investorintheknow, quite agree. Offsetting any potential losses + CGT allowances might come in quite handy as thresholds are being reduced for CGT, as you will know.

Also saves the hassle of carrying forward any losses for the future.
