I have recently bought into BAT, attracted by the obvious divi and also the potential to rebound from the currently low Sp, government scare stories not withstanding.

Personaly, I think medium term this has only one way to go, an that is up.

Bought a few more this morning from to benefit from the next Divi payment as I had received sone extra funds.

Time will tell.

I might add for clarification, as VAT is calulated on the total selling price of tobacco, it would be greater than 20% of tobacco duty.

British receipts from tobacco duty 10.2billion + VAT in 2023 - very substantial income stream.

I somehow doubt that Rishi will implement phasing out smoking.
