Hi Aerial, agreed there will be no magic wand in TZ but a change in attitude is a step in the right direction.
The problem has always been corruption organised by people with self interest and personal power as their guide, opposition could lead to a dubious life expectancy. Unfortunately some major companies are not devoid of blame.
I had friends with businesses in Africa (Kenya) and the middle east that accept oiling palms as part and acceptable necessary practice once the system was understood.
Until the warring factions find the ability to talk through to settlements (extremely unlikely) then Africa will continue to be a third world status with the most corrupt holding sway over intelligent management of the countries resources and for me that is tragic for Africa as a whole.
We shall see what our new president can achieve??

I've re read the short TZ update and I wonder if the new president will increase the urgency of power production at Rukwa due to the East African inquiries.
Just a thought bearing in mind coal is dead???

Just looked in, nice tick up, our new president could make a big difference to this sp if she carries out hr reforms.

As previously stated, everything is guesswork without news but we are approaching 200k buys, not huge but it gives the impression that there is more to the change of advisor than we know.
The handover is long overdue but do we not get the impression that it could drop on to us with the added compliment of new contracts???
There are questions about production to cope with any new demand but to be pursuing new contracts/increased production without a game plan seems unlikely to me but those are just my thoughts.

What is the real cost of (for example) Rufigi being built at a third of the estimated cost from experienced engineers.
Environmental damage,
The livelihoods of those downstream
The integrity of the valley walls.
The sediment build up.
How long if ever will it take to pay for itself.
The one omission from Diggerman, is his usual onsite update?? His last comments on coal production was very little activity.
Coal even for power production is far from dead, even if it is unpopular, the demand will be there for sometime to come.

I know a consultant (medical) who when asked about exercising only when you feel like it replied "if ever I get that feeling, I sit down until the feeling passes"

The last reference to AM that I remember is that he was to continue as director of the Tanzania operations, there's been no mention of that situation changing. Jan 15 RNS.

Aerial, re information, unfortunately that will always be the truth, although I was hoping for a a more informative update!
I still think the last (TZ) update gave more to look forward to than some would admit, but that's my view and we all see things differently, which is not unreasonable.
EDL could quite easily take everybody by surprise and that is the reason I think it is a strong buy.
The next RNS I'm looking forward to, it will hopefully point us in the right direction.

Aerial I agree with your post but a little bit more info regarding production etc. would be welcome.
The personnel were to be imported from global locations making visas an essential part of that process, so yes C19 is the most likely cause of the delay, of course under Magufli it would have been (to say the least imprudent ) to suggest C19 was the cause.
The silence from EDL is a firmly embedded practice which did seem to change when AM arrived, though not continued!
We will have to see what changes in TZ occur with the new president.

3.14, There's nothing in my post that says EDL as an individual company is the TZ priority, ENERGY production is and EDL is part of that. My hope (and I'm not holding my breath) is that the priorities change in the running of the country.
The location of a coal producing mine and the size of the resource, the Sumbawanga substation and interconnector power lines, makes EDL a little more than unimportant, but that is only my opinion. You see things differently and I respect that.

T72, we are approaching 12 months since the original handover date and there's more questions than answers.
Why did Magufuli not as his nick name would suggest bulldoze the power projects through to supply the various power corridors but cancelled them instead, knowing that the country is desperate for energy?
What is the real hold up with ILTL?
Are EDL producing sufficient income to avoid another fund raise to keep the lights on?
Unfortunately silence has never been the harbinger of of good news with EDL.
I still think that the last fund raise and RAB's involvement (although for them not a huge amount) plus the TZ update is a very big positive.
Until the new president takes charge we may have to wait for the answers and hopefully a change in attitude towards the development of the country.

Aerial,re your 19.10 post, "filling in the blanks" intentionally or otherwise you have answered two of my questions.
The handover delay has been and still is long and expensive. I shall wait for the next RNS and the outcome from that and see what the market makes of the fiasco with Magufuli. GLA

From the Tanzania update, (which I consider positive) that there is no increase in production as any new contracts would be RNS'd.
Diggerman stated that was limited by the lack of onsite plant. I'm curious to his lack of comments on the current operations at Rukwa.
It has been stated that new contracts are waiting to be put in place on the handover to ILTL so the real reason for the delay is important information, so that begs the question why are we not being informed.
We need to know if EDL is running on the in prepaid contract or whether they have additional income from existing contracts.
From the TZ update I'm assuming that progress is continuing towards the handover to ILTL I would not be surprised if they had a date in mind which will be released when it is certain. In the meantime it is open to speculation.

What I'm saying is people cross him at their peril, what he says goes, he doesn't listen to any body else, hence the problem with CPP and administration. I did mention the church as an example, the rest of the population have suffered in a like manner.

3.14, If you doubt his influence as a church goer, check on the number of nuns and priests that have succumbed to c 19 warranting a plea from the catholic church to change his policy on c 19.
