Aerial, TZ and others in the proposed power pools can't produce can't generate sufficient power on a 24/7
Reliable system as they stand, so where do people think the power is coming from to justify the expense of the power grid, substations, interconnectors etc.
Electrification that is 24hr reliable is key to the economies of TZ and the surrounding countries, and for foreign investment.
Any expanding infrastructure will increase the demand for cement and electricity,both will be dependant on coal and it just happens we have the odd bucket or two, so I've been told!

I have been tied up lately but yes I will chance a tenner. My choice would be shelter, the homeless charity. My preferred choice would be cash in hand to our street residents but having not handled cash since the start of covid that is not possible.

T72, interesting thought but EDLs problem was digging up coal of little commercial value when they had better value elsewhere, only for their problems to be increased by a crazy ????? running the country.

To address the TZ national assembly today to outline government policies to correct the financial mismanagement of the last 5 years with the intention of encouraging investment in TZ.
Perhaps things will change?????

The problem with pollution is not fossil fuels alone but the volume of emissions, and that is down to population.
Unless a solution natural or otherwise is found then the battle is already lost!
As an unwavering atheist, when I take plane flights over various countries at night, I look down and the picture is the same as a petri dish and the spread of bacteria. eventually the whole dish will be consumed with the inevitable result.
I find it hard to believe what sort of intelligent being would put such a dangerous organism that either eats, kills or poisons everything it comes across for it's own selfish purpose on to a pristine land, it defies logic.
So coal will never be dead until it runs out.

The TZ Gov's forecast for coal consumption expects an increase over the next 20yrs. Smaller than other sources though but never the less an increase.
A recent RNS from EDL said they were looking at local CFPP, to supply coal to. It would seem the economics of energy supply to the more remote areas favour local power production, coal being the most economical.
So coal is dead, HA.

PS to that post, you could be right about the new president, it would seem that the world bank are not expecting a great deal from her, she has 5 years to prove them wrong, or otherwise.

Aerial, bit of a late reply, it was just a general overview of African problems embedded as they are.
EDL, they say follow the money, the over subscribed placement by people who are definitely not a charity is something to make note of and I agree there will be a lot more to come once ILTL get hold of the reins, hopefully sooner rather than later.
